Maybe we could have a more organized page about housing -- just because its getting so difficult to skim through 6 pages of random discussion and I think it would be helpful to have a place with hall opinions and possibly links to pictures.
anyone know anything about Uhall?

UHall
-amazing location(in my opinion I'd rather be close to Union Square than Washington Square.)
-newest dorm, so everything should be fairly nice, nothing broken hopefully
-best apartment style, IMO way better than 3N just because 3N looked really gloomy/depressing and there are always smokers crowded around the courtyard which really *es me off.
-right next to palladium which has gym
-i personally don't care about it being the least social dorm cuz i know i'm gonna have a **load of fun anyway. and plus i don't exactly want to get wasted 5 nights a week.

what does that even mean "least social?" why is everyone saying that?

The problem of finding a community should be solved by joining an "Explorations" floor, according to your interests. You literally don't even have to go to the events if you don't want, and there are no academic requirements.

I never really liked UHall because it was so anti-social. I'd pick 3rd North if I could do it again. 3rd North has the best practice rooms for musicians and a dance studio. The "Big Apple, Big Screen" Explorations literally live in a penthouse. you really can't go wrong living there.

did anyone get their housing forms yet
how is brittany and rubin

Anyone have any opinions on Broome?

My exploration Community was a joke. We didn't really do any 'exlorations" or even meet. We had one museum trip. I haven't heard many good things about explorations in general. NYU plugs them alot to freshmen, in my humble opinion "much to do about nothing". Only really bad thing to say about NYU (ok maybe food too). Freshman orientation was fun, my year is going great academically and socially.

Which dorms do not have A/C?

What is the most social dorm and what is the most anti social?

hsseniorlooking: what exploration floor were you in? I heard that some of the explorations weren't that good, but others said that it helped a lot in regards to building up a dorm community.

The French House (in Hayden) is a wonderful Explorations...but then again, our RA was the best RA of the year (last year) and he's leaving, so I'm not sure who will be the RA next year...but there's still the Faculty Fellows living on the floor and I highly recommend it (if you're into French)...SO many free events haha.

Some exploration floors are total BS, and don't count on them for getting you into the dorm of your choice, either.

I've had lots of friends have an easier time getting the dorms they want because of explorations...that's why you sign up for it--to get into the dorm of your choice

Rubin--very social, and i met some of my best friends there. we had mold and rodents, but it wasn't so bad. If you're gonna live there, do a 2-person room. DON'T say on the application that you'll go for a 3 person one. it's just a lot less privacy.

Broome is amazing! I lived there over the summer. beautiful hard wood floors, and open spaces... It's a little farther away from campus, but right by the subway.
and, its in SOHO!!! you really can't go wrong with that area

If anyone wants any pictures of Uhall, I have some on my facebook. Just message me.
