Housing Rush?

Hypothetically if one is accepted on the 15th, what would be the next step besides paying the tuition deposit? Is there a certain housing form you need to fill out to possibly state your preferred roommate?

I am curious because FSU had a terrible first come first served program that was enacted at the moment of acceptance.

I understand that we were given a housing priority number according to the date that we sent in our application but when would that number be utilized and how?

Also, in my situation for instance, I have a great priority date (August 1), yet my friends, the ones I would prefer to room with depending on who gets in, have terrible priority dates. What kind of a chance to I have to room with one of those people? Would I have to give up a preferred dorm complex to accommodate the request?

Once you get accepted, you will be sent a form (I think they do this stuff online now) where you pick your preferences. You have to pick what's your top priority: the dorm, the room style, or the roommate (the one you want to room with). If you pick the roommate then your priority date will be moved to who has the latest one. (e.g you have 8/1 and roommate has 12/1, then both will be 12/1). You pick the top three dorms. Once that is done they look at your date to see what dorm you get; "first come, first serve" philosophy. Also, MAKE SURE you pay your housing deposit on time (I think its still $200). If you pay it late then your priority date will be moved to the day you pay it.
