Okay, so my mom is basically the devil and when June 29th (the deadline for the $500 housing deposit) came around, she refused to sign the check in hopes that this would force me to go to Boston University. Well, after the classic teenage ranting of "I hate my life and I'll never talk to you ever again" it's basically decided that I'm going to UCSD, finally.

But that whole not paying that $500 deposit on time, just as I thought, has basically put me and will put me in a very sticky situation at UCSD. I'm on the waiting list now for Fall 2007 (I'm suppose to reapply every quarter) and I've almost pretty much determined there is no hopes of me getting any kind of housing at UCSD.

So, my question is, should I start looking for outside housing now or is there still hope? Toodles!

my answer would be....... go to bu and make yourself happy because you might have a chance at housing there. you'll also make your parents happy.

i might be on the waiting list :( since my prepayment didnt go through but the lady said the deadline is july 6th for people that had problems with echeck

Mine made it two days ago! I was all nervous and crap... And yeah, you might get put over at revelle for housing. There is a facebook group for students who are on the wait list and are needing roomies to rent apartment, you can try that out and get acquainted with the people on there if you'd like.

EDIT: Holy crap look what I found.. For BU it's
* 62% Women
* 38% Men
So basically if your a dude or a lesbian, you should consider going there. ;)

I say look for outside housing. It's hard enough for people who signed up on time to get housing as it is, you'd be best served by preparing for the worst and doing your research.

If you want to come to UCSD, by all means follow your heart and do what makes YOU happy. Those who aim to please their parents will end up in very unhappy future situations. This is your life, not your parents'. Parents really should understand that. -_-

Best of luck in your search for off-campus housing, be sure to post everywhere on Facebook, craigslist, and school-based roommate searches. See you next year!

What number are you on the waitlist? My son was on the waitlist a couple of years ago and was able to get a room a couple of weeks before school started. If they do things the same, they divide the list a couple of ways. (1) the have a waitlist by college (2) there's a overall waitlist. All colleges fill their open spots from their own waitlist, and once they exaust the list then they fill the spots from the overall waitlist. My son was in Muir and got housing at ERC.

Another thing, if you are lucky and able to get 1st year housing, you still don't have guaranteed second year housing. Youj'll need to get on the waitlist again or try to appeal for second year housing. My son successfully appealed the second year housing in January of his freshman year and was able to get a lottery number for the 2nd year.
