Housing

I just got a letter from the Office of Residential Life urging me to complete my housing application. Which qaud is better: North or Massell? (Even though, I don’t make that choice.)

From reliable sources: students...

"You don't get to choose, they'll just place you wherever. Both quads have advantages and disadvantages. I live in North, which a great location for me. It's right next to Rabb, where most of my classes are (it's literally a 4 minute walk in the mornings) and it's across from Usdan, which has better food than Sherman. Usdan also has the mailroom and other useful things. Massell is also good, it's definitely the "prettier" quad, with the pond and all, and it is closer to Sherman and Shapiro, which is an advantage for club meetings and such. But really, it doesn't matter."

"apparently this year massell is the way more social campus (i live there and its true that we are social, tho i cant say in comparison to north how much so). tho last year i hear that north was the place to be. it all depends. i dont know anyone from north who's sad, tho, about where they live based on social stuff. everyone goes out who wants to. and the floors seem to get along well up north. some of the rooms seem bigger there. but i dont think massell's dorms are too small.

north is WAY easier to get to most classes from. (its right next to the dreaded rabb steps.) tho massell is pretty close to the science buildings. sherman dining hall and shapiro campus center are next to massell, but i prefer usdan tho it isnt really a bad walk at all. north does have chums right by which is cool- id like to be closer to there. its usually too cold and i too lazy to walk over."

Massell Quad and North Quad are equally matched. Each year that goes by the Quads take on different characters.

North Quad is closer to Raab (an academic complex primarily for Humanities and some Social Science classes). It is also closer to the ala carte dining halls in the Usdan Student Center.

Massell Quad is closer to the Science Quad where most of the classes in the School of Science are. It is also right next to the Sherman Dining Hall (an all-you-can-eat dining hall) which is also the main source of Kosher options on campus.
