Housing

MaXLee05, when did you get your contract offer?

Um during the middle of March. I got offered like 2-4 days after paying the enrollment. Forgot the exact date however. Sorry.

how did u get your offer .it was in the longhorn site itself or it was mailed to ur home? i m bit confused. well i paid it couple of days ago there isnt any response.

I got an email telling me that I had a contract coming in the mail. You can only get it in the mail as you have to sign it by hand. When did you turn in and paid your housing application?

i paid in april 2 ( both enrollment deposit n the housing application).
it takes only 2 4 days ? or takes a month ?

You have to wait until a contract is availible. People that have paid their enrollment fee and turned in their housing application and fee before your date will get their contracts first. It's a first come first serve kinda deal I think. The people that paid their housing application fee and applied the earliest (September or October) will get their contracts before you.

We sent in the housing application fee(50 bucks) in October. Then a few days ago I sent them the enrollment deposit online. The same day I sent the enrollment deposit the online status showed that d had been offered a housing contract and the lady from housing called and offered d a space in the honors dorm. She said there were 30 spaces left for females.

I now have 10 days to send in the 300 dollar deposit for housing or the contract is no longer valid and she loses her spot.

Hope this info helped.

Yeah, see how the early October deadline helped a lot? (Well maybe the honors thing too. Haha).

I just paid my enrollment deposit tonight.... going to Plan II. I hope there is space left for the honors dorms. Anybody know how many spaces are left for males?

I called them today. They said that they are just starting to offer contracts to girls who applied in Nov. What am I going to do? I applied in Jan. I wonder how many spaces they have left...

Yeah a lot of people said apply the first chance you get for housing when you're planning on going to UT. If you're interested in apartments too I'd suggest looking around Austin if you're close.

Also, we just got some information in the mail regarding co-ops.

This is student-run housing within 4 blocks of campus that are almost half the cost of UT housing. They require that you donate about 5 hours per week of your time to chores such as cleaning, cooking and maintenance. The fee includes 17 meals a week served community style. It sounded interesting. I think I still have the brochure if anyone is interested.

Yeah I got that too. I wonder how much 5 hours is worth in college time?

I think it would be ideal if we all got to visit the dorms, apartments, and other private housing at Austin, but sadly I live 5 hours away and my parents definitely won't let me go by myself.

I finally got my contract yesterday, did anyone here pick private bath. How much in demand are they?

i'm visiting the campus right now. i and three of my friends have plans to room together in the University Towers, and off-campus dorm-like apartment building about 3 block away. each room has a kitchen, living room, and private bath.

but now, after looking at the honors dorms, san jacinto, and jester (though i wouldnt live in jester), im beginning to rethink my decision. it seems like i would be much more a part of the campus community.

its really a dilemma.
