I was totally looking at 3rd North, but I heard really good things about Hayden. Does anyone have pros/cons for these?

Daughter in Rubin and loves it. It is not awkward at all. It is around the block from the Silver building and it is in a very sweet location.

The Starbucks next to Goddard is just fine, don't worry.

And Rubin is more like 4/5 minutes away from Silver, just the same as Hayden.
But I have to say, I'm not too crazy about either of them, but I liked Rubin better than Hayden. Hayden is my 2nd least favorite out of the dorms I've seen, Weinstein is my least favorite strictly room-wise.

based on what people have said rubin and goddard are pretty nice but ive heard most of the freshman EDers go to hayden and seeing that ive already made friends with a lot of EDers i might as well be in the same dorm. because i want to get in on the social life from the get go. because my social life in high school wasnt as great so i want to make up for it.

Kanjisasahara, I am also looking at Hayden, because everyone says its the "party dorm" and that it is really social, but at the same time, I really want the apartment style dorm. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions....

id like to experience the traditional college dorm for at least 1 year. itll be interesting. especially if you have a good roommate and lots of interesting people on your floor. i hope i get something like that. i actually look forward to moving into the dorms.

I am looking forward to moving in too! I think I am leaning 3rd North though, I just like the extra room. I know that 11th and 3rd doesnt sound that far away, but is it on a really cold day? Also, I think the closest subway station is Astor Place... Does anyone know of any others?

I think I'm liking 12th st. right now. It's brand new so everything is nice and working. I wanted an apartment style at first but U-Hall isn't a freshman dorm anymore =[ which would've been my first choice. 3rd North: I dont know I want to go there even if it is apartment style.

I think freshman I'll experience the traditional dorm then later on like in sophmore year I'll try apartment style =].

^ I'm thinking the same thing Jeo. I wanted apartment style too at first, but then I learned that only freshmens can get traditional style. I have three years to experience apartment style, so I want to do traditional freshmen year just to have the entire experience you know?

And plus, 12 St is new and I really want it haha. Saw it with some of my nyu friends, they said it was ugly but I liked it. :)

12th st is ugly =O? how so if it's new lol? O well the inside must be nice then :p

Hopefully we get to see all the dorms before we pick

Omg, lol NYU decided to keep the front of the church in front of the new dorm, 12th street O.o.

Looks odd.

St Anns – full coverage on Curbed

"More than two years ago, when plans surfaced about NYU's dorm at the site of St. Ann's Church on 12th Street, the university pledged to maintain the facade of the church. They said it would be incorporated as part of the site of the megadorm. Now, with the uglier-than-we-could-have-ever-imagined 26-story eyesore towering over the front of the church, it looks like they kept their promise--literally. The facade of the church has been incorporated into the site of the dorm, but not into the dorm itself. Nothing on the worksite seems to indicate that there will be a connection between the aging steeple and what what has been called a "puke-colored-brick monstrosity."

I'm debating between Hayden and Brittany for my premier choice. Hayden is right there on Washington Square Park, has AC, and has okay rooms. I have heard from others that there can be rodents in there.... so that’s the only downfall to me. But then Brittany has all the space, and I'm assuming it’s quieter than Hayden, which has been dubbed by many to be the social dorm of the freshmen dorms. No AC in Brittany though..... ahhhh... what to do... what to do...

Any thoughts?

hahahahahahaha oooomg.... the 12th street thing is SO WEIRD... what on EARTH were/are they thinking?!?!?!?!?!

Hmm... I am leaning 3rd North. Any one else??

ya 3rd north seems awesome. I just hope it isnt TOO far..

When I went to visit NYU with my friend who is a current freshman that dorms at 3rd north - the walk was only about 15 min I believe. but if you are in a rush to get to class I can see someone getting to campus 7-10 min.

Thats good. Because I really want the apartment style dorm, but I dont want to have to walk that far to class.

I narrowed it down to 12th street or 3rd north. but don't know which since 12th street is new - I dont know how the rooms are ect.. =[

Will NYU have a day or something so we can see the dorms?

Doubt it, but if you have a friend who lives in any of the dorms, they can always sign you in :)

Yea I will see 3rd North in the upcoming month because my friend dorm there.

I guess I'll stop by to see how 12th street is looking from the outside. Although I heard it looks horrible lol - especially with NYU making the decision to leave the front of the church in place.
