Housing

What is the on-campus housing application period for international transfer student?

Will I receive the housing contract at the same time as I receive my admission result?

You can apply for housing as soon as your application is complete.
After you get your letter of acceptance, you pay a deposit to say you are definitely attending UT. You don’t get a housing contract until after that deposit is in.

I love the UT dorms. I wanted to mention, though, that UT has very limited on-campus housing compared to other large colleges and based on what happened with an in-state transfer student last year (she didn’t get a room on campus and I really thought she would), I have to tell you, I am a little bit worried that they give the on-campus rooms to freshmen before they give them to transfer students. You might email the housing office and see how they work this; perhaps it helps to be an international transfer student. The housing office probably reopens on Monday, and they are good about answering emails.

The good thing about UT is that if you want to live in a dorm with the benefits of roommates, friends next door, RA’s, furnished rooms, and a cafeteria with meal service included, there are three nice private dorms that are just across the street from campus: Castilian, Dobie, and Towers. So if you want to live in a dorm and you don’t get a room on campus, it’s okay. (Castilian has a great location and my daughters’ friends who lived there liked it a lot. The CC user longhorndude loves it too.)

On the website, I saw that other than the $50 application fee, there is another $300 fee. What is the $300 fee for? When to pay the $300 fee?

First, you pay your $50 housing application fee (as soon as your application is completed). After you have been accepted, you can pay your $200 enrollment fee (any time before the due date, which I don’t think is until May 1, if I remember correctly). Then, you will receive an email notifying you that your $300 housing deposit is due. The$300 housing deposit is not required until after you have accepted your admissions offer/paid your enrollment fee. Your place in the housing choice lineup is based on when you paid your $50 deposit.

Thank you.
