Housing!!

I am an incoming freshmen Asian girl, and I just recently paid my enrollment fee and was sent an email stating that my housing app comes out on April 13th, I plan to basically turn it in the next day, but I am having a very hard time choosing where I want to live my first year.

From what I heard, since all my classes will be at LSA, it's best to go with central/hill since it's closer to class and it's where downtown is, where social gatherings are, and where all the clubs and associations usually have events and activities. BUT, i'm not left with many favorable choices since South Quad is mostly reserved for Honors student, North Quad and Stockwell are not open for freshmen, and Couzen is closed for renovations.

Thus I am basically left with East, West, Mojo, Mary Merkley, Alice Llyod. (And some all female residences and residence college dorms which I know for sure I am not applying for due to costs etc). But I have heard numerous bad reports on Merkley and East, and West has a rep for being a "party dorm", few freshmen get Mojo, and Alice Llyod doesn't seem like high chance either. Apparently from most people i know, if i were to put down center/hill i am mostly likely either to get Merkley or East due to their size.

From this, I decided to look at Bursley and Baits. And I like the new structures and the tranquility, but I fear the bus rides since I don't wish to be late for class or have a difficult time traveling back and forth from Central and North. Also, North seems to lack many social aspects.

Sorry for the incredibly long post! It's just I am very confused right now and I wish to have a good freshmen year since i am thinking of applying for either Ross or the Law School, as well as enjoying the general college experience.

Definitely go with Central/Hill, no question. It’s not like people are going to force you to party if you don’t want to. Head to the library Thurs/Fri/Sat nights if you don’t want to be disturbed.
