How are my SAT and ACT scores? Which one is better?

<p>Hi,
I just got my ACT score back and got
28 composite -
27 Writing
30 Math
28 Reading
27 Science
And then my SAT score was a 1960 with -
660 CR
690 Math
610 Writing
Could you please advise me which one of these is better, like which one to submit? I want to do somesort of enginering, like areospace. And what are my chances of getting into mabey UC Berkely or Cal Poly SLO? (oh and i have a 4.5 W and 4.0 UW gpa)Thanks a ton!!!</p>

<p>Your ACT is a bit better ([ACT-SAT</a> Concordance](<a href=“http://www.act.org/aap/concordance/]ACT-SAT”>The ACT Test for Students | ACT)) Are you planning on taking either again?</p>

<p>Actually, the SAT is better I would say…</p>

<p>Whoops, I totally meant that <em>cue guilty look</em> sorry.</p>

<p>I dont know, I was thinking about taking the SAT again, but then ill have to study again, although i did about 3 or 4 total hrs for the first try. Do you think i should raise for a school like Berkely or other UC? thanks!!! :)</p>

<p>Yes, you should retake and do a lot more studying and prep work (practice tests). Engineering is a very impacted major at most schools. I had a 2130 (800 in math)
and got rejected at Cal Poly and all the top tier UCs (however your GPA is much
better than mine). I was waitlisted at Davis and that is where I am now.
By the way, my first take was 1990, and by doing about
8 practice tests and making sure I filled up the whole two pages on my essay, I
improved each section. Another good thing - if you can get 680 on the writing,
you don’t have to take a writing test (at least at UC Davis). I didn’t take the
ACT, but wish that I had for comparison. If your scores don’t get higher, but you
really want those schools, you may want to try and get in under a different
major and transfer later (I know you can’t do that at Cal Poly, though).</p>
