How are SAT percentiles perceived by highly selective schools?

When schools like HYP look at SAT IIs are they just looking at the bottom line number (750 or 780 or whatever) or do they also keep in mind that a 790 on Literature is 98th percentile while it’s only like 75th percentile on Math 2?

My sense is that they consider one 790 the same as any other - with thousands of files to go through, they want to compare apples to apples and not get bogged down on whether one 790 is more meaningful than another. But I don’t know if that’s truly the case or not. Any insight?
