How are you supposed to dress for admitted students day?

how to dress? Just to streamline the process here are some options...

Option 1: Jeans, t-shirt, sneakers
Option 2: Khakis, polo, timberlands
Option 3: Dress pants, dress shirt, dress shoes

How 'bout a compromise: Jeans, polo, timberlands?

I'm sure its just casual.

one of the first 2

The first one. You'll be walking all over campus.

Who cares, you have already been accepted. The administrators are the ones who should be worried about how they dress, not you.

"Who cares, you have already been accepted."

I want to make a good first impression... before school even starts. :P

There's not really going to be anyone on whom to make an impression. There will be approximately 3000 admitted students there, led primarily by the DFAS volunteers.

dress casual. that's what i've seen.

Haha, I'm manning one of the student organization booths and my partner was asking me the same question. My advice to the kids is 1) Don't look like a schmuck and 2) Don't act like a schmuck.

Is there any great loss in visiting on a non-admitted-student day? My D's been there once and took the tour and info session, but now it's getting serious. Seven applications and seven acceptances. This is the hardest decision. Five schools are on the re-visit list right now. She needs to get some direct answers from a few departments. I'm not really worried about how she dresses! ;)

One word of caution, the weather people are calling for rain and in Williamsburg, that can mean a lot of water! Be sure to factor that in when you're deciding what to wear. My d. spent a weekend down at W&M last October and it rained so hard the entire time, her umbrella started leaking!
The joke is one of the first things students buy when they get there is a pair of rainboots.

Proud Dad, On admitted student day there are information sessions for parents and students that can be very informative. The one for parents is just parents and faculty/administation and the one for students is just W&M students w/admitted students. These sessions can be valuable, plus there are W&M students on campus with t-shirts that say "ask me" and you can ask them anything, including showing you dorm rooms, etc. They were very helpful last year. Other than that it was the usual speeches from the president, etc., etc...atrmom, too true! Do not go to W&M without rain gear!

Yeah, I know and it's a shame. Too many schools all with similar events at the same time. We'll miss W&M's simply because it is the closest and the others require lumping them together to save time and distance. I feel we can go to W&M at any time but I'm disappointed to see they have only one time for accepted students to visit, compared to, say, UVA's Days on the Lawn spread out over several weeks. Seems somehow more appropriate for a state school to do it that way. Oh well, that's one drawback to the bounty of acceptances.

Proud Dad, I don't think missing accepted students day will be a disadvantage. It's not like every accepted student is coming that day, nor will there really be time for you to get acquainted with professors, academic programs, etc.
