Say I manage As in my more difficult classes, APs and honors, but slack off and get a B in stuff like Health, how bad does that look?

I don’t think it matters that much at all, unless it pulled down your GPA. Really depends on the schools you’re applying to as well. Are you apply to the university overall or to the major? Probably makes a difference.

Well it won’t benefit your GPA at all.

I got a B in health in 9th and 10th grade because I never studied for tests, and that was probably one of the dumbest things I’ve done in high school…like an easy A if I had just tried 10% harder, and my GPA would be a little higher. Just get the A, you’ll appreciate it later.

Your competition will have gotten As, and if you get more than a couple of them they might think you slack off whenever you personally don’t consider a task important, and that’s not a good quality to convey. One or two is not a big deal, but in selective college admissions everyone needs all the help they can get.
