how bad does a study hall look?

so how bad does it look to take a study hall senior year? Let's say my schedule turns out to look something like this:

AP Literature
AP Government
AP Latin V
AP Calculus AB
AP Computer Science
Physics Honors
Study Hall

Will the fact that I take a study hall bring me down?

take a gym class for god sakes if you're so pre-occupied.

Wow, some of the oddballs there are in here.

hmm you have a packed schedule no doubt about it but I'd suggest you take some easy elective, cause you can be sure that most other students with those courses are not going to have a study hall

you have 7 periods a day plus lunch? long day

and bearfolife is right, chill a little bit

well i figured the study hall would be able to help me out a lot more than a gym or easy elective because I would be able to do some of my home work in school which would allow me to have more free time at home so i could do other, much funner, things....does the study hall really look that bad?

also citygirlsmom, my school has 4 classes a day (3 classes we have every other day for 90 minutes and 1 class we have everyday for 45 minutes)

I mean, I had study hall and I got into Yale. Got a fat A in that study hall, too. ;-)

Nash

you're lucky nash, our school only gives P/F grade for study hall so it doesn't factor into our GPA. lol

he was joking about the A. Wow. You aren't as bright as your classes make you seem.

and in my school, we also have 7 periods a day(for seniors), 8 periods for everyone else.

And why are you taking 6 academic classes senior year? Lighten up a little.

I'm taking 6 academic classes senior year because I want to take 6 academic courses. The only class on that list that I don't want to take is AP Latin V and I'm only taking that hoping it will look good taking more than 3 years of a foreign language.

Besides I have it set up as an alternate right now to AP World History, but I don't think my school is going to offer the AP World History so I'm gonna be stuck with AP Latin V. But the rest of the classes I'm actually looking forward to. If my school ends up offering AP World History I will be ecstatic, that would be like the best senior year schedule I could ask for.

NO. (10 char)

No, of course not. It's better than taking an easy elective because you'll have more time to do your work and study. At my high school, you have to take a study hall unless you want to be an assistant or take some kind of elective. We don't get a grade in it though.

There's nothing wrong with taking study halls. In fact, at my school if you take an AP or honors science, it's often required for lab. Esp in combo with your courses, you're definitely ok.

I think all schools have different rules about Study halls anyway so I don't think it'll hurt you.. I mean my old school didn't have study halls whatsoever.. unless you were failing a classes and doing very bad... My other school, however, just gave you study halls if you didn't want electives or classes... So by your senior year, you could have a schedule with 3 study halls (sweet.. add one more hour thanx to lunch) and if you had a car.. you could just go home.

I don't think its going to hurt you especially with that schedule above. Good luck!

Shazilla - You're right, I am lucky that my school gave As for study hall.

Bearsfolife - No, I was not kidding. And your insult to Shazilla was not only unnecessary, but now sort of embarrassing for you, don't you think?

Nash

No, I believe your school is nuts nash.

At my high school, we don't receive a grade or anything of any sort for study hall...its just a filler, and just about every junior and senior, and in some cases freshmen and sophomores, have them. We have no choice, we can't sign up for them. They don't even show up on our report cards. If you take a science class at my school, there will be at least one day a week where that class has a double period. But on other days where there aren't double periods, you have gym class (another class you can't sign up for, its a requirement that is just always there) twice a week and the remaining one or two days, you have study hall. It is such a minor thing, and should not affect your college acceptances/rejections.

no. you have a bunch of APs, so you have a reason to

wow ur school has study hall??? my school u hav a free, so u literally have open campuss...

Not at all. It doesn't look bad. With IB Diploma, Study Hall is mandatory. Therefore, I doubt it looks bad.

Looks fine my man.
