One of my friends keeps telling me that Revelle sucks. I was rejected for bioengineering, but accepted for Molecular Biology. So my question is, is Revelle bad or good? Top 3 or bottom 3? Do I have bragging rights or not? Thanks.

Ok 60 views and no replies is starting to bother me. It's like a one word answr.

it has a lot of general ed requirements

it is good

Rok - if you're interested in becoming an well-education young man, it's a good thing!

Revelle's GE requirements are just more geared toward math/sciences.

I am interested in becoming a well-educated young man. But it also gets fkn annoying when every 5 seconds I have to hear from my friends that I got into the worst college at UCSD.

if you are looking for a study environment in which you find a lot of nerdy asian people, revelle is the place for you. don't get me wrong, i'm one to study, but revelle makes me feel bad about myself haha because they study there NONSTOP. Their GEs are frickin crazy, but i guess they will make you well rounded. I know they have required reading over spring break.

i would honestly say that you dont have bragging rights although you did pick the college people have this preconception of being prestigious, it doesnt matter. chances are, if you suck at english and want to pursue science, revelle GEs are cumbersome and soon enough, youi will be screaming "i hate hum" and running down res halls.

but dont worry, it's all really the same between the colleges... only petty differences

Personally, the reputation of Revelle that I've been acquanited with is it is the best college academically. I believe they have the highest SAT and GPA averages.

Revelle has more GE requirements than many of the other colleges, but it is not really that different than a lot of other UCs in their requirements. Lots of students find HUM challenging with lots of reading and writing, but a lot of Revelle grads look back on it as one of the most worthwhile educational experiences they had (you will get exposed to a lot of the "great books" and writings). Those who truly hate the HUM classes take alternatives over the summer at a JC. Revelle's dorms are older than most, but students from other colleges sometimes get housed in other dorms, so there is no guarantee. Revelle has a good reputation for grad or professional school. How hard you need to work depends much more on what your major is than what college you are in.

what if you're a biochem major and your english skills are..average
humanitites sounds crazy. as for lookin good at graduate schools, i guess thats a plus..

lol yeah im a science/math/econ person im not a humanities/english person so I'm gonna take summer school at a Com. College maybe english or philosophy to replace Hum. 1

that sounds like a good idea, i'm plannin on doing something like that, but how do you know what can be counted as Hum.1

lol not sure im gonna talk to someone or a counselor at ucsd and check w/ on eof the local colleges
