How bad is your school? [Top the poster above you]

I don’t think I can “top” people here, but it’s interesting to see the diversity in my school. A lot of **** goes on, but we still have academic people and for the most part, the school cares about getting people into good colleges. But:

In the past three years, only one person has gotten NMSF.

Only one person has matriculated at an Ivy since 2009, which I guess isn’t that bad. But most people who apply to Ivies have no idea what it really takes. They’re overconfident about their applications and get extremely disappointed when they’re rejected.

A sad majority of people have no idea what ED is.

We have a few lockdowns each year for bomb threats.

There are girl fights all the time. Now, they’re considered entertainment rather than drama, and the people who break up the fights get bragging rights.

Every year that I’ve attended, we have had at least one overdose or suicide.

A few years ago, a bunch of football players were caught for using steroids.

“Summer programs? Why would you want to go to school in the summer?”

Pretty much everyone except smart people and those in the drug-free community group drinks or uses.

Multiple people have drug-tested positive and have had to leave school for rehab. Some more than once.

The back hallway is known for its promiscuous activity. The couch used for drama productions is called the “sex couch”. Disgusting things have happened at proms and homecomings.

Looking for pregnant girls? Over here!

Some people are in gangs, or claim to be in gangs, and threaten to have gang fights during school with guns. The police are usually able to get the in way.

our football team went 0-8 last year. even as someone whose school spirit is rather limited, that sucks.

^^^ Let’s get the ACLU and NAACP up in this joint.

Yeah… I’m the only black guy on my robotics team.
Racist as ****.

I’ve got it pretty damn good. I’m at a public hs next to Phillips Exeter and we’re in the safest state in the US, so it’s all good. Our principal did try to ban grinding from our school dances and got us into the Boston Globe, who then called us “Sexeter” (which is awesome). We have like 1,700 total students and we’re pretty successful. We have had/will have about 6 Ivy Leaguers in the past four years. I have a classmate this year who is currently choosing where she wants to spend her full ride for cross-country: Harvard, Syracuse, Cornell, or Georgetown. Last year 8 kids got into D1 athletics, with 1 getting a 44% tuition pitching scholarship to UCONN and another who won the Gatorade New Hampshire Boys Soccer Player of the Year award. This year we have an All-American soccer player (I believe…) and a bunch of D1 potentials. About a fourth of the class each year goes to UNH. I might go there because I got a great scholarship and access to the Honors College.
Oh, and our School Resource Officer (SRO), besides being a complete and total d-bag, has a daughter on the popular late-night HBO show “Cathouse.” He disowned her.
We have very little diversity, unfortunately: we have about 10 total black kids.
Overall, i’d say i have a pretty damn good high school. It’d def be better if my class got along better

Also, about 75% of my school drinks/smokes weed, including me.

Everyone goes to the dances because there’s grinding and it’s pretty much like a club. This year about 1,200 out of 1,700 kids went to Homecoming. That’s one sweaty cafeteria.

We’re in D1 in all of our sports. We own at hockey and our tennis team had two undefeated seasons in a row, with one championship. Our girls’ soccer team has won the championship 3 times in the past four years.

Last year, a girl in my class killed someone when she was driving. Also, one kid killed himself and another was killed in an accident. That stuff never happens at my school so we were all in shock.

We have almost every AP class and at least 20 kids in each class.

Our student newsmagazine (proud to say I’m on it) wins Gold Crown awards presented by Columbia University.

This year we already have a few full-ride athletic scholarships handed out, one of my friends is going to Dartmouth, another got into the Tisch School at NYU (the prestigious theater school), one got into West Point, and another got into South Carolina’s IB school

We have a day care for all the teen moms.

98% of the kids who graduate will either end up 1. In jail 2. Living with their parents 3. Getting married and living down the street from their parents 4. Working at the local supermarket

We’ve had 2 people go to a school in the Top 75 in the last 50 years.

A teacher got fired for sleeping with a student.

People have sex in empty hallways when most other people are in class.

95% of the school does drugs, drinks alcohol, and have sex. Regularly.

Most of the football team at our school has shown up to practice/games drunk or high. A few have gotten arrested/suspended.

If you ask people what “Yale” is, most people won’t know.

Only 3 people have gotten 5’s on an AP test since the school was founded nearly 70 years ago.

The FBI is now watching our school after bomb threats.

Our average SAT score is 900 ish for CR+M+WR.

Most people don’t know an SAT II exists.

^ that SUCKS man

We have to set up buckets throughout the hallways when it rains because the ceiling tiles leak and sometimes fall out of the ceiling.

When it rains really early in the morning worms fill up the entire 5th wing hallway.

The fact that I am currently 1 of 18 (yes that is correct 18) valedictorians in a class of 135.

I am one of the few valedictorians that doesn’t drink regularly and vomit at all the parties.

More than 80% of my school is drunk on any give Friday night. And a drinking ticket only gives the kid a one or two game suspension when everywhere else it is an entire season.

Our football coach told the team to drink as a team because they won’t suspend everyone. He ended up being correct when the whole team got busted.

We had a kid get charged with major burglary and the judge decided that he could wait until after football season to serve his jail sentence.

We only have one AP class and no one takes it because no one has gotten a 5 in years (possibly ever) because the teacher doesn’t prepare you for the exam.

My classes aren’t preparing me for a top tier college at all. I didn’t have a grade lower than a 95% on any given assignment test or exam for the entire 2nd quarter. I would like to be challenged a little more.

Religion classes turn kids against each other. Things get pretty heated.

It is in a tiny town that no one cares about.

I can definitely agree with the people not knowing that SAT II tests exist. People at my school have no idea how to score the SAT or why anyone would want to take it. (most people take the ACT)

Other than all of these things I really like my school.
