I’m accepted to BU class of 2021 and I would like to drop my grade a little bit like one letter down for my second term (BU already sees my first trimester grade as a part of my application and I strongly believe that they will also see my second trimester grade(but not the third)) . Will this cause BU to withdraw my acceptance? My GPA is 3.31 (studying in a boarding school in New England and BU knows my school well)
My current classes are
AP Calc BC - got a B+ for the first trimester and plan to drop it to C+
AP Physics B - got B+_for the first trimester and plan to keep it as a B+ or drop it to B
AP Environmental Science - got a B for the first trimester and plan to drop it to C
Literature of the American Dream (English) - got a B for the first trimester and plan to keep it as a B
Biology - got a B for the first trimester and plan to keep it as a B or B+
What score do you plan to get on the AP tests? I mean if you magically have that much control, go ahead and drop your grades to Cs but get 5s on the AP test and get all of that credit. Watch out for Ds though. I goofed off second semester senior year to see how the other half lived, and only got a 3 on BC Calc, and didn’t get any credit.
I’m kind of joking. I don’t see how you can shoot for a C and guarantee it’s not a D.
@poom26 “I would like to drop my grade a little bitI” and “I have to be honest, I’m getting lazy to do work in high school now.”
Your GPA is low which may have been given more weight because they are familiar with the rigor of your school but if it drops you could be putting yourself in a terrible situation. Three of the classes you are thinking of lowering your grade in are all APs.
@ClassicRockerDad I think I can only get a 3 on the BC, which is not enough for credit. However, its ok for me since I will major in Business and do not mind repeating Calculus again (it will not be as deep as BC). For physics and environmental science, I don’t really know why I am doing it. According to the school that i’m going to curriculum (QSB), I do not even need to learn science there.
You need to get a 4 on the AB Subscore of the BC exam you get 4 math credits and you are done with math. You need this to understand the material as it relates to optimization for economics (maxima minima problems). Why wouldn’t you go for this.
If you study, you can get 8 credits with the Physics (PY 105, PY106) satisfying your science (4) and a liberal arts elective (4). The Environmental Science (GE100) satisfies your social science (4).
I can’t understand why you would just blow 16 credits, worth roughly $25,000 because you are feeling lazy. That’s just not good business.
can someone actually answer the question of at what point they would rescind application? if i get 2 or 3 b’s this quarter, and i only had one when they admitted me, would this be a cause for concern?
wait actually though can someone just give a respectful answer? the op just wants to know what grades they need to get to be fine w bu i dont think they care about your opinions on their classes. I was also wondering what would happen if i get a c this semester so if anyone has any actual information that would be helpful
Nobody really knows. We’ve seen students get rescinded from schools for getting a D. In my kids HS, some kids started college on academic probation. I know that planning for a C is one of the best ways to get a D. Think about it. How many people try for an A and end up with a B. Why would that not be true that trying for a C.
Nobody is being disrespectful, merely pointing out flaws in this whole line of reasoning.
