How big of a deal is class rank?

I'm applying to NYU. Most of my stuff looks pretty good - good ecs, 31 act, 3.85uw gpa, good essays, etc.

My only major concern is my rank, which is about 13%. My school isn't really too hard unless you're in the IB program (which I am in). The IB program is very challenging and is filled with EXTREMLEY grade-driven people that will do anything for an A and therefore rank higher than me. The school actually has a ranking that excludes IB kids that the other students get to use. Also, my school's weighting kind of sucks - it's .002 per AP/IB credit, which doesn't add up to much.

Anyways, how much will my rank hurt me?

bump....................

Seems like your GPA is still pretty good and you are at the top 25% tests scores for NYU. You should get in. Write a little note saying how your schools weighting sucks. I did, cause my school doesn't weight at all. Put it a little more eloquently, obviously.
