how closely should I follow the CDS (for Recommended Units)

Rice recommends 4 units of a foreign language in high school. I do not plan on taking a foreign language my senior year, but I've been taking the same one (Latin) since freshman year.

Would it be wiser to instead opt for taking Latin to meet with Rice's recommended units for a foreign language? Only one person at my school passed the AP Latin exam (3) at my school a couple of years ago, and I will definitely not be the exception. I would definitely get an A (as I have been since freshman year), but I feel that it would be pointless to take the class, as I would rather take classes where I could pass the AP exam, but because Rice is in my top 2 choices, I am now more strongly considering taking Latin.

You’ve already met the recommendation, which is 4 semesters in high school. Build your senior year schedule with classes that will help you prepare for college in your major of choice and take classes you will enjoy while meeting your high school graduation recs. Doesn’t sound like Latin fits that bill for you…
