How cold do the freshman dorms get in the winter?

as cold as you turn the dial

Do we need to bring a heavyweight comforter?

They're nice and warm.

cold?! haha...the heat is centrally located...and most of winter i had to open my window :<

super cold, prepare for the best snotsickles of your life

Ridiculously warm. I too had to open windows during the winter.

are dorms controlled by one system or does everyone have their own temperature system in each different room

depends where you live. court/kay/bauer is climate controlled, so in the winter its pretty warm. theyre comfortable.

i lived in the crappiest of crappy dorms (so crappy, it's been torn down already). But, it was still toasty as all heck in the winter.

god i hate climate controlled rooms.. i prefer controlling it myself... -____-

I know in Dickson we had our own radiators. Mine made horrible noises so I never turned it on (it was cold).

In jameson we had dials that could adjust the temp of the room, but it was always really warm.

what about balch? do we control our own heat?

Balch has radiators too. They make the room pretty warm. The problem with the Balch radiators is that once you decide to turn it on, you shouldn't turn it off since an air bubble can get trapped in it and then you have to call up facilities to fix it. I remember, once it was about 50 so I turned off my heater. The next day it was about 20 and my heater had a bubble so I was freezing that entire day. So, I would suggest in the winter time to turn it up. Then, if it gets surprisingly warm, just open up a window.

around what date does the heat get turned on?

I'd imagine that it's related to the temperature, not a specific date

lol idk i thought there was a specific date
