As of right now, Cornell University is my top choice for where I’d love to go to school. Next year I will be going into my junior year of high school. Right now, I’m just planning on what I will do the next two years to prepare. This is my plan as well as what I’ve accomplished up to now.
-9th Grade GPA: 94.7
-10th Grade GPA: 98.4
-Overall GPA: 96.0
-I have gotten mastery scores on all of my regents exams up to now.
-I got a 5 on the AP Music Theory Exam.
-I got a 700 on the SAT II Subject test for Chemistry without much preparation (I plan to study really hard and will retake it for a higher score). I’m deciding on what other subject tests I will most likely take.
-By the end of high school, I plan to have completed 7 honors classes (English 10H, Chemistry Honors, Spanish 4H/Pre-AP, Precalculus Honors, Spanish 5H College, Independent Research, and Anatomy and Physiology). I will also try to take a class to become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician.
-By the end of high school, I plan to have completed 8 AP courses (Music Theory, Chemistry, Physics 1, Calculus AB or BC, Language and Composition, Literature and Composition, Government and Politics, Macroeconomics, and maybe Statistics and Environmental Science if I could for them into my schedule).
-I’m assuming that I will get an SAT score of at least a 1600 (though I plan to get a much higher score). I also plan to take the ACT.
-I will have been involved in many clubs by the end of high school, including peer mentoring, community service, radio, science honor society, national honor society, Tri-M music honor society, and more.
-I volunteer after school often, and for the next two summers, I will most likely be volunteering at animal shelters to work with animals.
-I’ve had many accomplishments growing up, including opening for the band Zebra at a well known theater on Long Island, as well as performing the piano at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. I’ve also recorded an album with John Lennon’s record producer.
I know that it can’t really be told whether or not I have potential to be accepted until I actually do these things, but assuming that everything listed above is achieved, do you think that I have good chances? Any advice on how I could improve my chances of being accepted into Cornell University? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much in advance!
