How did you self-study AP Psychology and what textbooks/prep books did you use?

I’ve seen many people comment how easy AP Psychology is. I haven’t taken it yet, but I am going to be this year on FLVS. For everyone who self-studied it- how did you start? I have the Myer’s Psychology for AP (2e) and I am ordering Barron’s and 5 Steps from Amazon soon. I am kind of stuck on where to start, since I don’t get officially approved for the course until August 1st. In the meantime, I’d like to start self-studying now.

I’ve read that you just need to read through the whole Myer’s textbook and/or the Barron’s book and you’ll be pretty much set for a 5. So for the textbook, do you just start from the very beginning and take notes on whatever you’re reading from the get-go? And is Barron’s alone enough to get a 5 if you just read and memorize it? Also, vocabulary- where is everyone studying vocabulary for the exam because I’d like to make my own Quizlet but I don’t know where to get the key terms. I’m guessing from the Myer’s glossary but I just want to make sure that this is a relevant source because this textbook is from a few years back.

However, I want some input on the Myer’s textbook because I heard it has a lot of irrelevant information as well as missing information. I also have “Psychology In Action (10e)” and was wondering if this was a better textbook? If it is, the questions I asked above about Myer’s apply to this book too.

Yes. I did not take the class in HS. I literally just crammed the weekend before using Barron’s a got a 5.

The fact that the AP Psych exam is so mind-numbingly easy is one of the main reasons Dartmouth eliminated AP Psych credit.
