I am currently a junior and I would love to self-study AP Psychology. My plans are to major in Computer Science and maybe minor in Psychology.

The reason I want to self-study is because I am genuinely interested in the subject, and because it is known to be one of the easier AP tests. My only advanced classes this year are Honors Pre-Calc, AP Statistics, and AP Physics B. I would like input on how simple or difficult self-studying this subject is. Does having an interest in the subject tend to result in better understanding of the subject? Are there any tips on how to manage time with studying it?

Also, I would like to know what sources I should use. I am set on buying Barron’s only, and I would really like to just stick with one book, but if it really is difficult with just that book, then I will get another one.

I would self-study Psychology. It is the easiest AP I have had so far. I usually study about 2 hours per week, and I’ve passed all my tests. Most of the test and essays are common sense. I love Barron’s books so I would stick with that one.

Alright, thank you for your input.

Any other opinions/thoughts are appreciated.

Do it, I studied literally the weekend before it even when I told myself I wouldn’t procrastinate. Just use barrons and study say a couple weeks beforehand and you should do fine.

Yes, do it. It’s a really easy 5; it’s pretty much all just common sense with vocab words tacked on. I self studied it last year (my junior year), what I did was check out the textbook the AP Psych class at my school uses and read a section every other day for part of the school year. I also got the Barron’s book, but honestly that was completely redundant. Barron’s is very concise and covers everything, it’s packed with information so if you go through it all you’ll do fine. That said, I didn’t, I just read that textbook cover to cover (it was actually a really amusing textbook), then skimmed through the first few sections of Barron’s.

Okay, thank you very much. My parents somewhat encouraged me not to self-study, but I really want to, so the reassurance was needed. I will most likely self-study now.

Seriously I wondered why I bothered taking the class for a whole semester. YES, self-study psych! I recommend 5 Steps to a 5.
