How did you spend your summer before senior year? (Memorable summer activities?)

I’m a junior and I need to start planning my summer before senior year.

What did you guys do before heading into senior year? Anything special? Did you go on an expedition? Or do an internship?

I’m interested to know what you guys did! Thanks for your help.

(Btw: please do not write anything like ‘follow your passion’ or ‘ask your counsellor’ or anything negative really. It gets really irritating, let’s try and stay positive  )

What you do summer before senior year is very important for college application purpose. The best kind of program are competitive and free programs, like TASP or Governor School. Most of those programs take applications starting Sep. Paid college programs or volunteer work are not as meaningful. If you want to apply to Hotel school, then hospitality work is needed. If you can’t get into one of those programs then do some ECs, paid/volunteer work, summer courses are all good way to spend your summer. What you don’t want to do is to spend the summer playing video or by a pool.
Both of my kids applied to one those competitive programs and were lucky enough to get in, but they also worked and pursued their EC (ballet).

I really did not do anything special, but that’s just me. I volunteered a little and continued working at my job, but that was it. No special programs or internships or trips or anything.
