How difficult are your classes?

These are the classes I’m taking right now:

PE 10- obviously hecka easy, I have a 100. then again I am pretty athletic, but still most people can easily get an A if they just show up and run.

CP Chemistry - also really easy, but since it’s not honors a lot of people are failing because we have lots of dumb seniors. I’m taking AP Chem next term, though, and thats supposed to be REALLY hard. (CP chem is a prereq for AP)

AP European History - Hecka easy, just a buttload of homework (mostly meaningless). Our teacher is simply awful. Last year less than half of her class passed the AP exam and NO ONE got a 5. I hope to be her first :)

Honors English 10 - Medium difficulty. Our teacher is extremely intelligent and loves to talk about how qualified she is. She is a REALLY tough grader but most of the wok is manageable

AP Calculus AB - this is my hardest class. I’m the only sophomore and I have a 96 right now, but I think there are only 3 other people with grades above a 90. But the teacher is an amazing teacher, and since her tests are so difficult everyone is prepared for the AP exam. Last year, only 2 people didn’t pass and over half got 5s, which is insanely good for our crappy public school in California.

PE/Driver’s Ed: Super easy. Tests/quizzes are open-note. Probably 95% A’s.

Math Analysis: Hard subject, but very nice teacher. Everyone in the class has an A or a B.

English 10 Honors: Very, very easy. I didn’t miss a single point all of first quarter. Probably 60% A’s.

AP World History: Very tough class with tons of work. I’m guessing 10-15% A’s.

Chemistry: Easy for me. Sone people find it hard, though. About 25% A’s is my guess.

AP Bio: I have a 100, but most people don’t enjoy the subject as much as I do. 30-35% A’s.

Latin 3: I’m good with languages, and this class is a breeze for me. 20-25% A’s.

The school is sort of competitive. My grade is especially smart.

None of my classes are too difficult. Most of the kids (honors & non) don’t care about academics, so the teachers don’t either.

well in this part of the world we dont have APs and IBs and honors and accelerated programs and such. however the classes are damn difficult. its not that i dont get good grades but it takes some real mental and physical strength to do it.

and we have a fixed curriculum, so we dont get to choose what we like. exempli gratia, we have precalc from class 9(or sometimes even lower) and calc from class 10 for all students regardless of whether they like it or not. lucky for me that i like it. guys here get some real bad grades in them.

I’ll just go through my schedule really quick…

Creative Writing: My only regular class. School actually kind of forced me to take it… As can be expected, it’s really easy, but we get homework maybe twice a week. No big deal. Everyone has an A except for a couple people.

APUSH: Pretty easy. We get maybe 2 hours of homework a week. About 40% of the people have As.

Honors Spanish IV: Also easy. Maybe an hour of homework a week? About 60% of the people have As.

AP English Language: HAHA. Pretty rough class. About 2 people have high As. Maybe 20% of the people have mid-low As. Maybe 2-3 hours of homework a week here.

Honors Pre-Calc: Easy for some, hard for others. Pretty cool teacher and whatnot. About 30% of the people have As, and we get about 2 and a half hours of homework a week.

AP Chem: Hard class for a lot of people (understandably). Maybe 3-4 people have As out of 40. The rest have Bs/Cs. About an hour of homework a week.

Honors Physics: The teacher, albeit cool, is terrible. Nevertheless, a lot of people have As in his class.

English: very very hard. In the last essay we did, only 2 out of 70 kids in this teacher’s 3 classes got an A, and those A’s were 92 and 91 respectively.

History: A joke. All you have to do is read and take notes and you’re guaranteed an A.

Chemistry: I find it incredibly easy, however some students struggle.

French: A joke #2. However, teacher is a little crazy and can give you a random 75% on an assignment b/c she said you turned it in late or whatever and can drop your grade.

PE: My lowest grade usually in my report card. We are actually graded on participation, understanding of the sport, motor skills etc… So the athletic kids always have an A- and everyone else B or C’s. A friend of mine, starter of the soccer varsity team, got a 90/100 for understanding the rules of the game… LOL

Math: Very very hard. Especially since it’s honors, the teacher gives random stuff on tests and quizzes that we never learned before. Last quiz was an example with 2 problems from the next unit which we never saw. No one complains b/c everyone is scared. God i hate the people in that class.

then I have 2 other really hard electives that I get borderline A’s in because the teachers take them very seriously when i’m there to complete my art credits.

Most classes are honors btw.

I go to highly competitive school; most graduates say that when they went to college they literally could finally rest
At most, A is something “WOW!”
in history classes and Latin, A is “you’re God”. Max. 2 students get A, usually. B is then “Wow. You’re lucky”
We’ve got 15 compulsory classes, 3-5 higher level.

Let’s see, I’m taking (as a freshman, mind you):
Honors Spanish 1: In which we have tons of projects, tests, and busywork, but thankfully not that much actual HW. We have had 4 major projects so far and over 50 assignments.

Regular(non-honors) Algebra 2: We never have projects, as it’s math, but we have tons of busywork. We often have 3 packets of work a class and 20-50 problems extra as HW

Humanities: Rigorous-ish required class for freshmen where it’s mostly project based, but we do have HW.

Honors English 9: Our teacher is known as among the toughest in the school, he grades very harshly and what would usually count as an A in 8th grade honors english would count as probably a C or B in his class. We have a lot of projects but not that much HW.

Honors Biology: She gives us tons of HW despite it’s supposed to be project-based (science far and labs). She’s also very harsh about grading. We’ve had at least 66 assignments in her class.

Band: Really easy, grading is behavior-based.

Our school is a lot less cutthroat, especially for non-Honors classes, which are a walk in the park. Honors classes can be annoying but no where near as bad as some of the descriptions you people have.

Hm, junior year schedule goes like this:

Physics I Honors: I got a 91% (A-) last quarter, but it’s probably going to get a bit lower. About 1/3 of the class has an A or A-, though. I think it’s the easiest science I’ve ever taken, though, and that’s saying a lot. It’s just the fact that I’m terrible at science.

AP Calculus BC: My hardest class, without a doubt. I did fine in Pre-calc/Trig Honors last year, but I suppose I’m really not used to AP style questions yet… Dunno how everybody else is doing in that class.

Chamber Strings: Highest orchestra in the school. Easy A. You just gotta practice if you don’t want to look like an idiot at the concerts.

Information Systems: Again. Easy A.

French 4: Somehow an easy A? I didn’t study at all my first three years of French, and I got nervous thinking I had, like, a 92 or something. Managed to get a 95. Whew.

US/Va History: Only got a 92 last quarter. SO close to an A. I could try harder, but, eh…average grade of the entire class is about a B, I think.

AP English Language/Composition: LOTS of busywork. Not terribly difficult though. Started off a little rough, getting 4’s on my essays. But I got an 8 on one! Got a 91 last quarter. Still an A-, though. And I can tell that I’m becoming a better writer/reader, so it’s definitely worth taking.

It’s really just math and science I’ve got to worry about. I WOULD have taken APUSH, but I didn’t want to jump from 0 to 3 AP’s.

AP Stats - Fairly easy, but it’s full of lazy seniors who don’t give half a f about the class and are getting Bs/Cs. I’m a junior (doubling on math) and I have a 96 with no effort.

APUSH - My hardest class. My teacher is ridiculous and her tests are really, really hard. Only a couple of kids have As out of her 2 classes, so around 65 kids. I have a B+ currently, and I’ve been (unsuccessfully) trying to get that up for a month now. And what sucks is that we have another APUSH teacher whose class is much easier.

AP Chem - Difficult, as well. I have a low A, and so do about 3/25 other kids.

AP Calc AB - Difficult. Our class average for the last test as a 59%. No joke! I have a low A, but not a lot of people do.

AP Eng Lang - Easy, as long as you can write above a “4” essay. I have an A, but not a lot of people do, just because most of it is essay and multiple choice grades.

AP Calc AB: (joke, for me lol) Most people are barely getting a B, but I pre-studied AP so I have an A (I didn’t participate a lot so I didn’t get the A+)
AP Stat: (so hard) The teacher is really bad… I failed the surveying test, but then I got A’s on everything else so I ended up with a B
Honors Physics: easy Everyone has at least a B+ because of the webassigns. The tests are hard, but he gives us too many webassign homeworks, which makes the class easy. I apply calculus to the course so I have an A
Astronomy: medium. Bottom line, senioritis hit so hard. I should have an A, but I have a B
20th century: medium Senioritis again, I sleep half the time… so I get a B
English 12: medium Seniorits… I don’t read the books so I fail the reading quizes, but I am good at essays so I get a B

I go to a ridiculously challenging and very prestigious high school, and the difficulty of each class varies a lot. We don’t offer very many APs (only in sciences and languages, so there’s no AP Gov or anything) but all of our classes are considered high honors level and many are considered AP-level of difficulty. Very few history/English teachers give A+s, although it’s definitely possible to get that grade in science/math.

Last year, as a sophomore, I had extremely difficult teachers. I don’t know the overall average grades for any of those classes, but among my friends, who are all overachievers, the average was probably an A-/A. This year, my teachers are not as difficult. (I’m taking the most challenging course load.)

AP Vergil: I have an A and that’s probably the average grade. It’s a really difficult class, but she loves us simply for taking it and is generous.
US History (APUSH but not designated as such): I have an A-, and the average is B+/A-. Difficult teacher.
Trig/Precalc: I have a B…no idea what the average is. Around that. Hard.
Physics: I have an A. I’m pretty sure our teacher is unaware of grades in the B-range, although it’s not necessarily an easy class. Sweetest woman I’ve ever met.
English: I have an A-, and the average grade is probably a B/B+. Ridiculously difficult, with a completely anal teacher…ugh.

So yeah – it really depends what teachers you get, but for the vast majority of my classes thus far, it’s been extremely difficult to get above an A. Thankfully, our guidance office provides the median grades for junior/senior year to colleges when we all apply, although we don’t rank…

Band- yeah. Study hall/phone time. Do you show up? If yes, then 100%!
AP english (lit/comp)- I find it to be way easier than I expected, but english is my best subject. I’ve got a b right now since my teacher lost an essay, but if I had that score I would have an a.
AP stats- I find the actual material much easier than calc, but my teacher is absolutely terrible (the school gets complaints about her all the time). I get by by taking notes on my own from the book and completely ignoring my teacher when she talks. I have an a, but I think everyone else who actually tries to learn from my teacher isn’t doing as well.
Internship- really easy and I love it. Basically, if you turn in your time sheets, you get 100%.
(My school does block scheduling, so I only have 4 classes)

I’m a freshman
Pe: A+ teacher says I’m one of his favorite students of all time. Easy.
English honors: A not really easy, because the teacher uses essays for a large part of grade and uses some screwed computer grading that gives me Bs. Otherwise I’d have an a+
Spanish 1:A really easy, we get a few projects now and then, but we learn slowly and I remember most of the words.
Student council: A unless you sit around and do nothing all period you get an A
Biology honors: A+ i don’t think it’s easy since I’m only of only a few As but it’s easy for me and I love it.
Geometry honors: A probably the hardest class, but so long as you do ur work and do decent on tests you have an A.

And for those wondering my school does suck. Were one of the worst in Cali.

Honors Chemistry: Very hard. The tests are insane, and the average is B/C range. But I absolutely love the teacher. B-.

Spanish II (Honors not offered): Love the teacher, but she’s pretty strict, and expects you to be perfect. Not too bad of a class. A+.

Honors World History: About two hours worth of homework a week…mostly lectures. Like the guy as a person, but he can get pretty irritating as a teacher. Tests are tough. A+.

Honors American Lit: I LOVE this class and I LOVE the teacher. 'Nuff said. A+.

Theology (Required, Honors not offered): Interesting, laid-back class. Cool teacher. Tests aren’t bad, but memorizing verses and the projects are pretty rigorous. A+.

Weight training (Only elective available ATM…chose too late haha): Best class ever. He puts on John Mayer and hangs out. I study. Obviously A+.

Math: This class is a b*tch…B-.

I’m a sophomore.

2% of my entire grade gets A for one subject. We have no pluses or minuses.

Well, I have all As right now, but. . .

Precalculus: Eh…not my hardest class, obviously, but math is by far my weakest subject, so to get an A I actually have to put in some work. Though it does help that my teacher lets us do test corrections on EVERY test, even benchmark assessments given to us by the district that are worth 50% of our grade. (I really don’t think he is supposed to do that, but I don’t say a word! I went from a 90 to a 100 on that test because of those corrections!!)

AP Psychology: EASIEST AP CLASS EVER. All we do is make flashcards and do packets to go along with the chapter (cough copy them off the internet cough) and then take tests which I somehow manage to get As and Bs on. And then repeat. Oh and throw in some random class discussions about Justin Bieber’s alleged baby mama just for kicks.

Wind Ensemble: It’s band. Enough said!

AP Literature: Hardest class. Lots of reading and my teacher is a tough grader. But she loves my writing, thankfully :D

Creative Writing: Our last assignment was to write a one page story about a pilgrim for Thanksgiving. Enough said. Easy A+

AP Spanish: Also a lot of work, but I love Spanish, so it’s all right. I just wish we played games in there more often :stuck_out_tongue: (I swear in Spanish 1, 2 and 3 we would play games at least 3 times a week.)

And that’s that. Thankfully, my classes aren’t mind numbingly hard; if they were, my senioritis would be SO MUCH WORSE (and it’s already pretty bad…)
