Cool. I just read Gogol’s The Overcoat for World Lit today and I liked it. I’ve read Kafka’s Metamorphosis in high school and thought it was interesting.
I have Stephen Pinker’s The Blank Slate. Unfortunately I’ve never got around to finishing it :-(

I’ve got to admit that I don’t know much about music or have all that great taste. If It wasn’t for my sister and dad I would be listening to so much garbage lol. I tend to focus way more on movies and books than music.

Yeah, let’s PM each other… This topic is derailing fast.

Lately, I’ve been feeling completely loserish in comparison to everyone else too But I’m trying to motivate myself and get into new hobbies and devoting less time online

I highly recommend Victor Hugo!! He’s so underrated but he’s wonderful!! I think you’ll like him

I’m totally going to pick up Dostoevsky over the summer. Too many classes to focus on right now :/

Oh, p.s. which anime convention are you going to? Which college do you go to? (No, I’m not a stalker haha XD)

I don’t want to mention the name of my school or the convention I’m going to as this is a very popular board, but everything is going great and I’m grateful for my new social life.

I’ve read excerpts of Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables for my French Literature and Film class. It was really great. Hugo has a very nice writing style.

Sorry, I will go away for a very long time. I just don’t know what else to do. I can’t say her name as I’m afraid that people will recognize me. I’ll PM it to you if you promise you won’t be a stalker and keep the information to yourself.

Sorry if I’m repeating what other people are saying but this is my take on it:
You’re in college, who cares what college? Whether its Columbia, Fordham, or any state school it doesn’t even matter because in the end, it’s not necessarily where you get the degree from, but the overall qualities you have. I’m pretty sure I would rather hire somebody from a lesser known school that has amazing qualities than someone who is super pretentious because he/she got her degree from Columbia or Harvard or whatever. At least you’re going to college, have goals and have a bright future ahead (k that sounds super cliche) but I’m dead serious, because think of all of the people who don’t even go to college.

I’m sure you’re a super nice person with a lot to offer. Confidence goes a long way.

Embrace what you love (well at least like), who cares if your dad thinks it’ll make you look like a loser, that definitely shows his real character.

and good for you that you’re finding some interests and people to hang out with.

: )
sorry if that sounded really really cliche but that’s just my take on it.

^ Thank you for the uplifting message, karen2312. I’m loving life so far. I didn’t listen to my dad and had fun at the convention instead! Ever since I proposed change, I’ve even done more with my personal life. Today I went to an arcade, read a book and tried to learn French through Pimsleur.
So basically everything is going great.
