uhh, wouldn't drinking a liter of vegetable oil or more than a six pack kill you? how would you do that? do you have to throw it up or something?
wow, i really wanna join a frat, but this stuff seems kind of tough.

no, and no. for some a six pack will barely get them buzzed. as for the liter of vegetable oil, its gross, but it wont kill you. it'll clean you out if anything.

As I said before, although nobody forces you to do anything, most pledges give in to peer pressure and end up doing things they don't want to do.

Have some damned self respect for yourself and say no. Honestly, if someone told me to drink a liter of veggie oil i'd tell them to f'off.

well good for you!

reality is, most pledges don't have that sort of mentality. if the rest of your brothers are doing something, you feel like you have to do it as well. that's just how it is.

Is this really how the majority of my generation thinks? I really thought all that peer pressure stuff back in HS was BS but I guess I was wrong and "that's just how it is."

AEPi???

i aint gonna lie they throw some sick parties and do some crazy **** to their pledges. besides parties, frats do stuff like leadership conferences/summits, community service, IM sports, camping trips, etc.

LaxAttack09, why do you hate the frats so much? Bad experience? Didnt get a bid after rushing many times? No offense intended

Dude namaste, wanna go get colonics together?

Hate on fraternities? Where did you get that from? Please link :). I'm in a fraternity, and am one of the few cc'ers who stand up for them when the typical stereotypes are thrown out. However I have no sympathy kids who don't have the self respect/power to say "no" to somebody yet turn around and complain/whine about what happened to them. The only way you're going to be hazed, when it comes down to it, is if you allow it to happen.

guess i read it wrong, dude

which frat are you in?

in response to beatlesguy,

doood, if you think a 6-pack is gonna kill you...then...WOW

i take six and pull all-nighters. and im just average tolerance. misconception, my friend

i do moldau, i do. and im serious.

anyone know if the engineering/science fraternities are any different from the normal ones? as in less drinking, etc?

namaste - do you know how and where? I'm really curious I'd like to go get one but I'm too much of a pansy to go by myself

Newton - do you mean.. Triangle? Triangle may be exclusively science/engineering, but they still carry themselves as a social fraternity. PM me if you want more info about them

moldau - we'll talk when you help me with math heh heh

ethnic frats at ucla do haze, thats a fact

and u cant just say "no, i dont want to do it" because for each person that says no, all the rest of the pledges get hazed even harder, so it creates a very painful environment where you are forced to accept the hazing, or de-pledge and quit the frat.

i heard the larger, non ethnic themed frats (such as the ones on gayley avenue) dont haze.. the worst they do is make you do 20 push-ups or do someone's laundry

doing someone's laundry sounds like heaven [while pledging]...

haha

what kind of time commitment does pledging take for larger frats?

You must kill a man.

ugh. nerd.
