I know Ut provides cable. I saw the tv outlets behind my microfridge while staying in Jester. Do most people have TVs (in jester)? Where do they put them?

they usually put them on the microwave or on the fridge.

For the rooms in Jester that have the built in furniture/beds, a lot of people put them up against the side of the room opposite the door, like in the area between where you would have your desk chair. Look at the Virtual Tour (<a href=“UHD Homepage | University Housing and Dining”>UHD Homepage | University Housing and Dining) and check out the Jester 360 degree view. Now imagine that being a flat panel LCD instead, and you can see how it works. The picture is kinda old, you get better chairs now too.

It’s not easy to fit TV’s in a lot of dorms, I am still debating how I’m going to manage to put on in my Prather room, because the cable outlet is right where the air conditioner is, and you’re not supposed to put anything in front of that. We put the fridge there, so there’s even less room for a TV. It’s really annoying actually.

There was a guy on my floor in Jester West that dragged in a 52 plasma into his dorm. He moved the fridge and microwave into his closet.

Does anyone know anything about bringing a tv to San Jac? What size tv is reasonable and are there restrictions on placement in the room?

^ 32" is pretty standard. My friend had two 32" TV’s in his room (they weren’t origianlly roommates, they got reassigned because of other people being a problem, and they just happened to both have TV’s). There was plenty of room IMO. In other dorms, not so much, but they made it work well in san jac.

You can put it anywhere, you just can’t mount it or put holes in the walls.

In San jack you have the luxury of being able to rearrange your room so you can fit a pretty large TV in there.
