How do students living in dorms print documents?

I'm not sure if I should bring a laser printer to UCR. I've heard that some schools have printers where students can print to for free. Does UCR have that?

The dorms have comp labs. Although for pentland you have to go outside then to the basement to get there. I was planning on doing that Buying a cheap 30 printer from walmart but depending if the pages are free then I wont

Just grab paper from the printing rooms up to your dorm

from my experience, it’s much better to bring your own

shared printers can be prone to temporary failure >_>

Some buildings have computer labs that let you print free. The ones in Watkins do, anyway. Each student gets up to 400 pages per quarter. It’s very easy to go over that though.

But if you already have a printer, I say bring your own. Usually the free printing lines have a ridiculous wait and are prone to breakdowns. Lots of classes still require hard copies of assignments and have heavy reading (if you even can stand staring at a computer and reading for extended amounts of time).

I heard because of the economy, CHASS and CNAS only gets 30 free printing a year. BCOE has unlimited free printing.

well, I can just bring a few stacks of paper from home…

takes quite a while to run through those things

I don’t see how or why there would be different page limits for each college. A computer lab is a computer lab. Watkins houses the Anthropology, Sociology and Political Science departments (all of which are in CHASS) and their labs don’t have an off limits sign for CNAS/BCOE students. Plus, 30 pages per YEAR (I’ve had single readings almost triple that size) sounds kind of terrible… but I wouldn’t be surprised if they lower or eliminate free printing.

Yeah but ink cartridges are expensive

damn I forgot about cartridges…

I have a inkjet, so that would be like 40 dollars every two months or so :(

Get the sole black ink cheaper plus doubt you must have a paper in a different color ink

yeah, I don’t have to replace the color cartridge as often

don’t some stores give rebates if you turn in old ones?

anyways, I can see how cartridge costs can be a factor, especially for laserjet, since they last longer but cost 200 apiece

Does that mean we can get free paper as long as we don’t print on their printers? :D

shoot look both ways block the cameras open ur backpack and pour its straight out of riverside homie

aw man. :\ I didn’t want to bring a printer… but it sounds like a good idea now. 30 pages? lol u kidding!!!

I guess buying a cheap (price wise) yet efficient printer will do the trick

did anyone actually call them?
