I’ll be applying to UMichigan by the end of next week. How do I apply for the interview? I know it’s not required but I still want to be able to get interviewed as I wouldn’t be limited to 1000words xD.
I’ll be applying to the college of engineering.
My kids have done multiple interviews at different schools but that was never setup through common app. We used the old fashioned school’s website, email and phone approach… Also, you’re pretty late to ask for an interview. Hope it still works out.
@WilliamNYC Exactly. You need to look up the school’s resources for engineering and they have a request form. I would not expect to get an interview by the end of next week.
@ArduinoMAKER Possibly, it depends on the availability for an interviewer and where you live. If you live in or near a big city, there are probably more interviewers that could be available. It also depends on how booked they are.
Maybe they would do a Skype interview. My son has done that for a school in TX while we live in NY. Or they could hook you up with an alumni who happens to live in Saudi Arabia.
UM doesn’t do interviews for everyone applying for COE, just those that they have an interviewer in the region for. For what it’s worth they say it doesn’t impact your application much/at all, so I wouldn’t worry about it. They will contact you first via email if they have an interview available for you.
The school of engineering at Michigan is very competitive for admissions…
But this is important for you to know:
The school does not offer financial aid to international students…so…can your family pay the full cost of attendance which is about $63,000 a year USD?
@ArduinoMAKER it’s going to be difficult as an international student with your stats to get into Purdue or Michigan Engineering program. You’re also from a populous country that has a lot of students applying to US colleges, making it even harder. Make sure you have other options.
Suggestion… Look at Iowa state university. Half of Michigan tuition and great engineering programs. Huge school spirit. Students get great internships and all I have ever talked to had multiple job offers prior to graduation.
