How do you handle expectations?

<p>Also, if she were my daughter, I’d want to engage her in discussion about the content of the class in a context unrelated to any discussion of her performance. What did she think of the readings; did she find the ideas being discussed interesting; how did the presentation and discussion differ from the ways similar issues were handled in high school, etc. I think it is important for college-aged kids to learn and realize that academic and other experiences can have value and provide enormous intellectual satisfaction EVEN WHEN the experience does not provide an opportunity for the student to shine.</p>

<p>I wonder if she truly did no studying all those weekends. I couldn’t have even gotten the grades she did doing that. My first two years of college I was away LITERALLY every single weekend visiting friends at other schools, since I was a commuter… I brought my homework with me.</p>
