How do you self study AP Environ Science?

I've constantly heard that ap environmental science is very easy to self study but how does actually one go about self studying it? I already made a note of the smarty pants' guide but don't I still need a textbook or something to help me study? Environmental science is not a popular class to take at my school so I have no idea who I should ask... Sorry if a thread like this has been posted before... But I would really appreciate any advice!

REA, princeton review, barrons, i would also try to buy some of those complete AP tests that they sell online or go ask the envi sci teacher at ur school

Not once did I use my environmental science textbook. Sadly, it sat there lonely, untouched, and dusty throughout last year.

I had both the smartypant's guide and the REA book. The smartypant's guide is really concise, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are self-studying because you would need to understand the background info behind concepts and not just definitions.

The REA book covers everything--it was my lifesaver. I read it a week before the test, did a couple of practice tests, and breezed through the AP test. The REA book is all you need, seriously.

REA + Smarty for win. Just Smarty if you have a solid AP Bio background however.

I read Barron's for APES. The actual AP test was a joke in comparison >_>;;

Is the ap test that easy? Many people at my school said that they got a three on the test... They were disappointed because the class was too easy compared to the test. Neways, I was thinking that maybe I should read books related to environmental science now and then to prep myself for the essay part... Did you guys just use a prep book to study? I would personally think that a prepbook alone wouldn't prep you much if you are self studying...

hey, i'm thinking about self-studying for ap environmental sci too! I think I'll start during christmas break (after college application and first semester final).

In my opinion, textbook is necessary and I'm going to buy a textbook from amazon. I might also buy the lab manuel required for ap enviro sci from collegeboard.

My school does not have ap environ sci class but my AP Bio teacher from last year told me ap environ sci is pretty easy. Also, I really want to study for it because I like anything that's related to environment.

What is the smartypant's guide?? Is it like one of those popular study guides such as princeton review or barron's??

Good luck!

swang098, smartypant's is a reaaally concise review book for the ap enviro course, I wouldn't use it for self study I used it for last minute review for the test. Honestly I think barron's is best, I used it to study a couple weeks before the exam along w/ smartypants and got a 4 on the exam. I did read most of my textbook so I think it's good that you're getting one although I'm not sure you need it. good luck =)

So do you really not need a textbook?? I'm considering self-studying it too, and I was wondering about that..would a textbook help the studying be easier??
