How does appealing work?

So I checked my UCI decision earlier today aaaaaand I got denied. I was really keen on attending UCI, and it was legitimately one of my top options and I had the stats for it and all. Anywho, what can I do now?

Have you heard/know of anyone that got denied, appealed, and then was accepted? Are there certain requirements you must be in order to appeal in the first place?

I'm just very naive about all of this, any advice/information would be really helpful - thanks!

Yeah same here. I was set for UCI but I got denied ): and I’m gonna appeal. It says for appealing for the admission decision you have to have a check payable to UC regents but it doesn’t specify how much. BTW here is a link to the appeal info: http://services.admissions.uci.edu/resources/appeal_information.html

What are the chances of getting in after appealing UCI?How much do we have to pay?Is it possible to transfer from one UC to another UC. Are you planning to commute.Did you get acceptance from any other Uc’s.

Appealing a decision or deadline is an option available to applicants. Irvine recognizes that personal circumstances do not always fit within deadlines, and that non-admission decisions may be questioned.
Please read the instructions carefully and submit a complete packet. Each section will also describe general time lines and what does or does not affect the appeal.

I read the info but it looks like the payable check is for Appeal to Late Statement of Intent to Register (SIR), but I might missed it. Do we still need to send a payable check for Appeal to Selection Decision?

My fault, it is only for the SIRs, not the freshman decisions. There is no check for freshman admission decision appeals.

So, basis for appeal is along the lines of “I really want to attend, give me a second chance.” Am I a suitable candidate for appealing? What kind of stuff would I have to include in my appeal as “new evidence?”

there is no fee for freshman appeal.

When does appeal decision come out usually? Before or after May?

My high school counselor said “as late as August,” but I have no idea how accurate that is.

Does the appeal letter have to be handwritten or can it be typed?

@ItsaBenzThing‌ It must be typed.

@ItsaBenzThing‌
“Letter of appeal clearly stating new and compelling information for appeal consideration, written and signed by the applicant”
