My parents convinced me to ask my 5th grade teacher who's a family friend to write me a letter of recommendation for 1 specific school about how I told him I wanted to go there when I was young, and against my better judgment I sent the request to him. He's submitted his letter; is it possible for me to not use it? Or did it automatically get sent when he submitted it to the common app website?

It is fine to not use it, if that’s what you have decided. When you select schools where you plan to apply, they will appear in your dashboard. For each one separately you will assign recommenders. This recommender does not need to be assigned to a school. If you have already made the assignment, it’s not too late to change. You can change the recommenders any time up until you submit.

Thanks so much, huge load off my shoulders. I’m not sure if I’ll use it or not, but it’s a huge relief that I at least have the option not to!
