I know I'll find out at orientation, but I'm impatient.

The process is a little confusing - this links and previous posts should help (the links might look the same but they go to different places).

At a basic level you need the LASP: [TEXAS OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE - Tickets](http://www.texassports.com/tickets/all-sports-package.html)
If that’s all you decide to get, you’ll have to wait in line ahead of games you want to attend to try and get tickets: [TEXAS OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE - Tickets](http://www.texassports.com/tickets/obtain-student-tickets.html)
If you want reserved football tickets, you have to buy a season ticket in addition to the LASP: [TEXAS OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE - Tickets](http://www.texassports.com/tickets/obtain-student-football-tickets.html)

Does anyone know where I can find something like Buying UT Tickets For Dummies online? I’m still perplexed.
Maybe I am getting it and just in denial.

So…for $80, I’m not buying tickets, but buying opportunities to get tickets? For $80, UT will permit me to stand in line and maybe get a ticket?

Right, but that 80 bucks will get you into other sports that don’t require season tickets, assuming you want to attend those events. If you want to be assured a seat at every home football game you have to buy the season ticket on top of the LASP. The LASP is great for people who want the option but aren’t diehard football fans and who don’t mind getting in line super early for the lottery - I know some people who are like that and it works for them. Me? I want my seat. lol

Well. That’s awful.
But it says that with just the LASP,
How can you have group seating if everyone will get a random seat…? :/

If you set up a group, and you all only have the LASP, the games that you do decide to attend together they will try to seat you all together. But I’m pretty sure you all have to be in line together, or at least close in line. You may want to call them about that.

Speaking of football, check out what happened to Techs coach.

[Big 12 reprimands Tech coach Tuberville for critical comments | Red Raiders](http://www.redraiders.com/2010/07/02/big-12-reprimands-tech-coach-tuberville-for-critical-comments/)

And could someone explain how group seating for season ticket holders work?

Do I buy my own individual ticket, set up a group and then have my friends “add” on once they buy their own ticket?

I swear to God UT makes everything 20X more complicated than necessary…

Wake - you can set up a group without having bought the tickets yet (might want to check with your friends that someone hasn’t already done this). But if you are ready to buy yours and they haven’t created one yet you can go ahead and do it. They’ll join and then select the group when they buy theirs.

Can I buy these tickets later in the fall semester? The LASP and the season football tickets?

You want to buy tickets by July 23rd, that’s priority deadline.

If you don’t have a “group”, don’t despair. Get your season tickets. You will be glad you have them. At most games, it will be possible to shift around within the student section to sit by your (future) friends.

Thank you to everyone. Orientation answered a lot too. :)
