How does my list look?

I posted this in the UM forum a week ago but didn't get any responses there. I've started looking through the books to get some ideas where I should be looking. I haven't started college counseling at my school yet so any input would be appreciated!

Cumulative GPA - 3.7

Come from a smaller, private school near Boston MA.

Haven't taken SATs yet, but PSATS:
Math- 61
CR- 60
Writing- 60
I'll be getting a tutor for the SATs so I'm hoping I'd be able to get somewhere in the 1950-2100 range. I'll probably end up taking it 3 times...

I won't list the ECs...but I've done a decent amount of community service, had summer jobs, am involved in a couple school clubs

I run cross country and row crew at school...but sailing is my passion. I travel around for different regattas...I do well in Massachusetts sailing regattas but I do mediocre in the bigger international regattas. I'll contact the coaches at whatever schools on my list to boost my chances.

So here's some schools I'm considering:
University of Miami, Vanderbilt, Tulane, College of Charleston, Emory, St. Mary's College of Maryland, Duke, Boston College, Dartmouth (I have strong connections at BC and Dartmouth), Wake Forest, NYU, UNC Chapel Hill

Do you think that would be a good list to start with? Feel free to suggest any other schools you think I might be interested in. I'm mostly looking to get out of New England.

Thanks

looks pretty nice to me, I think
just make sure you get that SAT score up a bit from your PSATs (if you can bring it all the way up to a 2100, you should have no problems with anything on that last except maybe duke or dartmouth)

Those are all great schools, it sort of depends on the atmosphere you want... UMiami is like, the exact opposite of say, Dartmouth... so start considering size and atmosphere.

I had lower PSAT scores than you (total 177) and with an average amount of studying got my SAT upwards of 2100, so you are on the right track with everything!

ok thanks. that's good to hear.

yeah I know, some of those schools are a little random...I really don't want to be in the north, but I thought I should check out Dartmouth since I have a strong connection there. I'll be visiting those schools though this spring so I'll see what I like/don't like.

all of them are great schools. some in particular more than others but overall they all have great academics.

what does vary though is the atmosphere significantly.

For example:

The social atmosphere at Tulane and UMiami is completely different from that of Dartmouth or Duke.

I attend UM so if you have any questions PM me.
