Please provide an example of how they do it. Thank you!
+1 for AP/Dual enrollment/AICE/IB classes
+.5 for honors classes
Ie: If I took AP Calculus and got an A it would be weighted as a 5.0. If I took Geometry honors and got a B then it would be a 3.5 . So from here just assign the points to all your classes and add them up. Divide that number by the number of classes(by semester) and you’ll get your UF GPA
@Gatortristan can you link where you got that? I’ve not heard of a college doing adds for AP and honors classes across the board, particularly when the difficulty of honors classes will vary significantly across different HS.
@“Erin’s Dad” http://www.flbog.edu/about/_doc/cod/asa/admission_2014/Final_Matrix.pdf We got an updated version of this matrix yesterday for our senior checklist. An admissions officer came to our school and gave us a presentation in which she told us how they recalculate gpa for admissions.
oh okay thank you! But does it matter if you got an A- or A+? Or no matter what the number is, it’s just…A?
An A is just an A. They don’t use + or -. When applying for admission you must enter your grades in SSAR instead of sending a transcript.
Do you know if foreign language is factored into GPA? My daughter is in a criminal justice magnet also, and I was wondering if that class is factored in as well? I’m sure it tells me this on the link to the matrix, but my eyes are not so good today. My daughter is really leaning toward FSU, but we are seeing how well she is doing in all of her AP and honors classes, I think she will have better opportunities at UF. I hope she will apply. Thanks for any help with the GPA question.
@howsefrau32 You would include foreign languages. You have to enter all “academic” classes into the Student Self-Reported Academic Record (SSAR). UF uses these and not your transcripts for admissions. If you get admitted, they will then request your official transcripts.
