How does UF evaluate transfer credits?

I am transferring from a CC and I am trying to figure out exactly how UF determines which credits they will accept or not. I will have 71 credits when I transfer. I think, and correct me if I am wrong, they take credits to fulfill gen-ed requirements first, then core requirements, then what? I have Spanish courses ( to fulfill the foreign language req) will they take these or throw them out?? thanks for any help.

They won’t throw out anything that you need for your degree that matches up with their course numbers (which everything should match up since you’re coming from a in state CC). At least in my personal experience… I transferred with 90 credits since I went to 2 different CC’s and decided to take orgo and physics at my CC… they fulfiled my foreign language, gen ed, and used every class I took that was needed for my degree. The only throw out courses were things I took that weren’t needed for my degree. (I’m in CALS btw.)

thanks for the reply any one else have anything they can add?

hey, sorry to invade your post but i have a question about the courses that dont match with their numbers. I’m dual enrolling in a chem course that isnt offered at UF. How will that show up on my transcript?

It depends… for example I took some courses overseas that were not offered anywhere in the u.s. let alone uf but most were converted into generic classes like mac0000 or Bul0000… whatever the type of class you took was. From that point on it is up to the dept chair to accept them as replacements for a degree req… BUT because you are coming from a cc I am sure they will know exactly what the diffs are like inr2001 is automatically converted to inr2002 at UF etc…
