Hey...I'm new to this forum, although I've been reading some of the discussions over the last few months..Sorry if this question has been asked a million times, I've read through some of the previous threads but haven't really found anything close to my situation, or many people posting their experiences, only their speculations!

I'm a UK student, and I took the SAT once, in December, after very little preparation (I did 5 of the blue book tests in timed conditions in the week before the test, but didn't have time to work through any of the sections in the book), and I got 2010, CR 690, M 630, W 690 (10 essay). I subsequently took 2 subject tests in January, in Bio & Literature, and got 760 & 740. In the blue book practice tests, I'd been getting between 760 - 800 in CR and 700 - 750 in writing, but my maths score was always terrible! I do have a high A in GCSE maths...but we don't cover some of the geometry & functions stuff in the SAT, and at first I didn't get the negative marking!

I'm not sure why my CR & W scores dropped so much in the actual test, except that we had to hire a car and drive 6 hours to get to the nearest test centre (I live in a remote part of the UK)...it was pretty stressful! And it was the first time taking the test in real conditions....

Anyway, I'm wondering what your opinions are on raising my score significantly, really I think I need 750+ in each area...I'm hoping to work through the sections in the blue book, especially the maths, maybe get another prep book too? Anyway, I'm going to be applying this autumn (fall?), early decision and then regular decision, to some Ivy league unis and some liberal arts colleges. So I have from now, until like September, when I will take the test again, pretty much 6 months...is it easy/possible to raise my score significantly if I make the time to improve my maths, grammar (we don't really learn grammar in the UK, at least not to the depth that the SAT tests!) & speed/test taking ability, or is it going to be very difficult? I've heard differing opinions, some people say it's totally possible, others say it's very hard to change your score by more than 50 points.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance :)
