from queens to manhattan

I KNOW, EPIC JOURNEY

Pacific ocean away. In a different continent

5500 miles. HI to DC

500 miles.

In response to your post jaf1991, I am going to Tulane and the immediate area around the campus seems safe, as well as the main streets (Canal, Magazine, etc.). Parts of the city however are not so safe if you are by yourself at night, there is no getting around that. It takes a person with common sense to come here; however, when I visited I felt that New Orlenas has an inexplicable charm or quality that sets it apart from any other location in the country.

All the Tulane and Loyola students I met love New Orleans and definitely do not see it as a "scary" place.

214 miles away.
A 3.5 hour drive from home.

Close enough to come home for holidays and special events, but in a very different climate than home.

about 220 miles..can't wait to get out of this town!!

6 hours away from Brooklyn.
Gosh Syracuse is mighty far.

Patroclus, thanks for responding. Of course, there are parts of every city that wouldn't be safe for a girl alone at night and she knows that. I think what has put her off is seeing video clips of the Mardi Gras craziness (and Katrina, of course). I admit it...she's been sort of sheltered out here in the 'burbs. I'm not sure if there's anything I can say to change her mind at this point but thanks the the extra ammunition.

8.3 miles. The last thing my parents said before they left me at the dorm freshmen year was "call if you need anything, we're going up to the bar downtown later tonight".

The other side of the world. From Nepal to a Midwest state. Two whole days two whole nights!!!

about 6 blocks away, haha

i feel like that's anticlimactic but i enjoy it, so huzzah!

1,800 miles. From MS to Southern Cal

Almost exactly 500 miles. NYC to Bar Harbor, Maine.

WA to Mass! This cross country thing is kinda cool, kinda freaky.

390 Miles. SoCal to NorCal. SoCal to Berkeley.

I really wanted to go to Brown, which would have been a much longer distance from home, but they rejected me after being waitlisted.

94 miles. Wow, I though it was farther than that! I like it though, because it's close enough where my parents can come see me if they so choose, but not that often.

About 400 miles away. NYC to PA

77 miles, from one corner of CT diagonally to the other.

XC. CA to Mass
