How far can bad grades pull me down?

<p>Hi all. </p>

<p>I'm applying to UofC RD and I've heard that the university doesnt really put a grand emphasis on numbers (gpa, sat's) but i'm having a hard time beleiving that it will truly help me in my case, where my gpa is truly abysmal for such a university, something like 3.2 - yet, my AP scores in the classes i've received C's in are 5's and one 4. My sat score is relatively high, low 1400 and my ec's are actualyl very good. However,i know my gpa is definitely to bring me down, and i just wanted to know if i really have a chance at this school. Be honest! i can take it! (i think)</p>

<p>I'm not really sure on where U Chicago stands on GPA, but 92% rank in the top 20% of their class. Are you in this range? I don't think they look at AP exam grades, but you might want to mention it in the add'l info section. Make sure you essays are stellar, and in the Why Chicago essay, be sure to discuss the qualities that will make you a success at Chicago.</p>
