So, I have this book that I need to finish by Saturday (procrastination at its best!) Is it possible to finish it at under 15 hours?

How fast can you read?

So, I have this book that I need to finish by Saturday (procrastination at its best!) Is it possible to finish it at under 15 hours?

How fast can you read?

What kind of book?

Blink by Malcolm Gladwell, done in maybe 3 or 4 hours.
Harry Potter, if it was 350 pages, same thing, maybe even less.
Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism? (a buddhist book we're reading now in class) FOREVER. I WILL NEVER FINISH.

Hope it's interesting. Good luck.

Depends on how many words are on a page. I'm reading Wuthering Heights for class right now, and I can easily do a page per minute.

It's an obscure little book called "Wild Sheep Chase" by Haruki Murakami. From what I've heard its an easy reading book and its naughty little book containing a lot of mature stuff.

The problem is that I really need to understand the book, not just know the story. Plus I have a very short attention span. I get distracted very easily. What is the best way to keep me reading non-stop until I finish the book?

Read in a library away from computers. it ALWAYS works

Better question: how many words can you read in a minute? The best I ever did was about 1K, it's hard to go much faster while processing what you read as something meaningful.

^ o.O 16 words a second?

really slowly. im a slow reader

@ aisgzdavinci: At that limit, you're reading by the line, not word lol. It's analogous to electron delocalization but if we got into that we'd up till the break of dawn.

^ i read by groups of words

I can read it in one day if I have no distractions

... it usually takes me 3 minutes per page if what I'm reading has any value in literature whatsoever......

Get off of CC and actually read it? That might be a good idea.

easy book, like a long gossip girl, 2 hours

medium book, 3 hours

hard book-classics-7 hours?

i read really slowly in comparison to you guys...

Is it possible? It inevitably depends on your skill level, I can read at a satisfying level. Being in your anxious state, I would read it this instant.

I can read at about 725 words per minute, comprehending the material fully, but I'm not sure how that equates to pages. Try the site spreeder.com to see at what speed you feel comfortable reading at, and then you can adjust the speed and literally make yourself read faster. I wish my textbooks and reading material were digital so that I could put it into this site and get reading assignments done in no time.

In English, probably a page a minute. In French, about a page every 100 seconds.

Yeah, according to that site, spreeder.com, I read about 1200 words a minute. Is that really true?

In supercamp (7th grade) they had a test and I read at 1100/1100 wpm, of course... with a ceiling that low it isn't very accurate. Besides... I was waiting for what seemed to be forever for her to write the first time on the board.
And I got 100% accuracy... but I read Harry Potter a lot faster and my college textbook at about the speed of a half-blind person.
