How flexible? for current students

HI,
I just got into college of arts and sciences, but am becoming more and more interested in business. I know we can take classes in different schools of wustl, but is it easy to transfer, to totally move from one school to another?
thanks ^_^

From what we were told when we visited, just pick up the phone and they will basically switch you....

It's very easy to transfer between schools.

does anybody have any insights for Olin? I was accepted into Olin Business, but I am not sure if I don't want to just study something like poli. sci./history in Arts & Sciences. Should I talk to WashU about switching my acceptance now, or should I just go Business at first?

I'd call the admissions and ask, but I am sure you'll have no problem transferring into A&S.

Just start in Olin - You only take 1 business course during your first semester (the rest are in ArtSci or other schools), and that class is an intro/overview of what's to come, and gets the basics out of the way. That's the best thing to do to make sure you want to switch out, or stay in.

thanks, oncampus
I figured I would go and start in Olin. How hard would it be to transfer second semester of freshmen year? Do Olin students still get to take freshman seminars on interesting topics?

First semester they take Management and it’s a hard one for those that didn’t have any economics during HS; also they should pass a Math course, the rest it’s up to you, most students take languages classes. I don’t think with just one semester you could get the whole idea of business. Olin is harder to get in than Arts & Sciences, if you can, take advantage of it.

Olin students still have full reign over the artsci course listings.

I see,thanks!

I was in the Olin Business School my freshman year and decided I wanted a more liberal arts focused education. I transferred into Arts and Sciences and am about to graduate with majors in economics and political science.

The transfer was smooth and I got a lot of 1 on 1 interaction with different Deans in Arts and Sciences, including a couple transitional and instructional meetings. They are very happy when people join Artsci and do a lot to ensure you become acclimated to the school.

thanks washusenior! so you transferred during soph. year with no problems catching up on major requirements? awesome
