Hey so I was accepted to WashU in the College of Arts and Sciences, however now I think I would rather major in Olin and just minor in Poli Sci in The College of Arts and Sciences since WashU is so flexible. So I was wondering how I would be able to switch colleges before arriving. How would I make the switch before I arrive on campus to avoid any inconvenience of having to waste a semester before switching and possibly be able to attend SOAr for Olin instead of College of Arts and Sciences? Any help is much appreciated.
It’s not possible/very unlikely. I’m a freshman here right now and I also wanted to transfer from artsci to olin prior to arriving, but you have to spend a semester in the school in which you were admitted before you can transfer. It doesn’t really matter regardless since it hasn’t impeded me from taking the b-school classes I needed despite them saying that olin students get priority. Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
You can still prepare to major in business by taking the pre-reqs like mgt 100 and mgt 150 in the first semester. However, only those in Olin get a curve, so you won’t be as fortunate as the others.
However, you can wait till second semester and transfer, which in my opinion is the better option.
@Lowkeymeow Uhhh everyone who takes the class gets the curve. Also, many non-business classes have curves as well.
Concur with the comments above. Take classes first. Also when you have your first talk with your 4-year advisor let him/her know that you have intentions of transferring to Olin.
