CSU Chico-will be in state
Arizona State University-out of state or western undergraduate exchange
CSU Sacramento-will be in state
University of Nevada Reno-out of state
My family doesn't have that much money so I really need financial aid and scholarships.
SAT 1430
Gpa 3.1
Out of high school so can't change gpa
African American female

Is that 1430 for all three sections of the SAT or just the CR and Math?

Those OOS public universities will likely be unaffordable.

Does your family income qualify you for the Calgrant or Blue and Gold? If so, find schools in CA that will be affordable using those grants.

If your SAT is for CR and Math only, you can check the Amigo scholarship at University of New Mexico.

Why do you think you’ll be in-state for the CSUs when your current location is TX? Are you eligible for Blue and Gold?

I thinks its for all three considering the 3.1 GPA

Are you moving to CA with your parents?
If you’re in Texas, and you are the only one planning to move, you will be charged OOS rates.

You can get the financial aid stats for any college in the common data set. UNR, for example, met 62& of need on average and about half of their package was non-gift.

Keep in mind those are just averages, every situation is different.

Actually the better idea…the student should run the net price calculator on EACH college website using his family’s financial information.

To the OP…did you graduate from High school in California?

I’m moving to CA this month with my parents so by the time I’m in college I’ll be in state, that’s how it works right? I graduated from college in Texas but did my first 2 years in ca. My sat score is for all 3 tests.

I don’t think you’ll qualify for Cal Grants so aid at the CSU may be an issue.

Aid at the OOS publics will be an issue. Your best bet is to keep the Tx residency and go to school there.

oops meant graduated from high school

and there’s no school in tx that interests me like these other schools do.

SAT score is low even for the Cal States.
So you’ve graduated from high school and you plan to attend college in CA but haven’t applied yet because of the move?
Your best bet is to go to the CC’s, get your GPA up and get some GE courses done and then apply. You need to check the local CC to see if you would pay some OOS fees.

Make sure you check the college websites for articulation agreements with the community colleges.

IF you qualify for in state and can live at home, seriously consider going to a community college for 2 years, saving money, and then transferring to one of the CSUs. You can save a lot of money that way and get a great education. However, from the little you said, you will not qualify for in-state until you have lived here with your family for over a year - do a search on residency requirements to be sure. If either of your parents are in the military, you are exempt from the one-year requirement.
