My gpa is a 3.49 only because I had a tough fall semester. My major is Environmental Econ in CNR and unfortunately, I received a D in Calc 1 which is a prereq. Subsequently, I am now retaking the class and am confident that I will receive at least a B. Without the calc grade, I'd have roughly a 3.7. This situation becomes tricky because if I get admitted, I would have to take Calc II over the summer. I am in TAP and my Personal Statements/Extracurricular's are stellar. Internship at a tech company over the summer and before that, I worked 20 hours a week and a lot more EC's. I am really hoping the whole "holistic approach" Berkeley says they use really goes in my favor. I wish everyone the best of luck and hope you get everything you desire. Just remember, it's out of our hands now. Whatever happens, happens for the best.

I'd like to get some opinions from people. Say I get rejected, what do you guys think about me staying a 3rd year and reapplying? Berkeley has always been a dream school for me and I feel as if the school has so much to offer that I don't want to go anywhere else. Do you guys think it's worth staying a 3rd year?

Besides the fact that you might already know if you went to the TAP workshop like special code on your app, help with application process and PS. I think they also help write an appeal letter IF things don’t go as plan.

Loyshi I went to the workshop andI know that they claim a 80% or so acceptance rate, but I’m not sure what impact it would have that I won’t be able to complete a prerequisite course until the summer prior to transferring.

What preq are you missing? Major preq?
Considering you are applying to the College of Natural Resources I doubt it’s as impacted as other colleges. As a result, they might or might not be a bit more lenient in missing preq.

It is a major prereq and I will have IGETC fulfilled by the end of this Spring. I am taking Calc I right now and if I get admitted to Cal, I will have to take Calc II over the summer (Which I’m also nervous about).

To be honest, the only people I know that have gotten rejected even with TAP didn’t have the best of grades (3.2-3.3), and were missing some important requirements. But then again I also know of someone who got in with a 3.1 (No TAP) into a very competitive major! You hear all kinds of stories. haha Good Luck!

@Ocnative, molecular cell biology, a very difficult and competitive major! he was multiracial so I don’t know if that helped him get in or maybe he wrote an amazing personal statement, who knows? haha
