I read that they have a high transfer rate of about 80-90%? Does tap members really have a higher chance of getting in?

If you have the time complete a tap or tag program. I’ll say this tho, a lot of the students in those programs are taking harder courses and/or getting higher gpa’s than the typical students.

Yea i know 3 people that were a part of tap. They all got into cal. I’m guessing that the ones that don’t get in either do really bad in the fall application semester, don’t have many EC’s, or are missing pre reqs?

I’d guess number 2 or 3. Pre-reqs are a must, plain and simple. And yes Cal is the only UC that truly puts a LOT of weight on EC/Personal Statement.

If you are starting CC then def do it. A lot of the honors classes aren’t much if any harder than regular ones. Marine Science and English 101 are the only ones at my school that are brutal. By the time I started, I was already 1yr into college so I just don’t have time to finish.

I see. I’ll look Into it for sure. Do you need to have/maintain a certain GPA in order to get into Berkeley tap? Ik that you need to be low income or a minority, but is there a GPA requirement?

It varies from school to school.

In my school TAP is part of the Honors program. You need 15 units of honors credits and an overall GPA above 3.5.

That’s kind of the caveat. TAP itself helps but then again it goes hand-in-hand with students who maintain a higher gpa than the average pool and takes harder courses.

I see. Makes sense. Has anyone seen a TAP member get rejected by cal on this forum?

Anyone? :)
