How Hard Are Your AP Classes

In any/all of your AP classes, how difficult is the material relative to the respective AP test?

My D had an APUSH class that was seriously tough–the average class grade on tests was a 75. Teacher worked them very hard, and out of three classes of approx. 25 kids each, EVERY SINGLE KID got a 3 or better. The average was a 3.8. D said that she felt so well prepared, the actual exam was EASY compared to what the teacher put them through.

Ap chem is impossible to get an A…

AP Bio is killer. AP Human Geography is a joke.

All aps are manageable just study and work hard

AP Bio, USH, and English Language were all fairly easy classes. Chem was the only one I struggled with, and I managed a 5 which was nice, seeing as I hauled a** in that class all year to keep my A-.

AP Micro/Macro Econ in my school is considered on par with AP Physics.

The teacher gives us sooooo much work, grades it all for accuracy, teaches sooo many concepts, and gives so many more for us to teach ourselves. we then get tested on them without discussing them in class. it’s terrible.

the good news is that he averages one or two 3s a year, like twenty 4s, and all the rest are 5s. the AP exam is apparently a joke after coming out of his class.

I’ll grade on a scale from 1-10

English 3AP- Teacher hyped up the class WAYYY too much, easy A but too much work (((5)))

AP Bio- got a C+ (didn’t study too well) on my first test and I still have an A in this class, fairly manageable (((7)))

AP Psychology- heard it was easy, but it’s a little tougher than I thought (((6)))

AP US History- Joke of a class, I have a knack for history, easy A (((2)))

it’s my honors that give out boat loads of HW ( Pre Calc H and Spanish 3H) i’d give both of those a (((5)))

APES isn’t half bad. Def a little harder than a regular class, and very hard tests. But not a lot of busy work, very fair.

we didn’t have any tests yet, but our APUSH 1 teacher told us that the average on every test is 65%. it’s completely made out of AP questions

APUS: Pretty easy. But that might be because I took Euro last year… teacher is pretty awesome though.

AP English Lang.: Honestly one of the most boring, but at the same time, most interesting classes I have ever taken. Fairly difficult, but then again, English is not my forte.

AP Chem: Killer.

My 1st AP Class, AP World History, was a cake walk. I took it Freshman year, and the class was fun,we discussed a lot of interesting topics, etc. It just didn’t have the rigor I expected, which slightly explains my 3 on the exam (that and lax studying, honestly). This year, I’m taking AP US class, and it’s extremely hard if you don’t know what you’re doing. Essays left and right, quiz upon quiz upon quiz, etc. Though, I like it, because my teacher is seriously focused on her class doing well on the AP exam.

AP Physics B - our teacher pretty much gives everyone an A, but the work is some what difficult if you aren’t a very conceptual person and requires a lot of manipulation of what we are taught. 7 out of 10
Current Grade: 96

AP Language Composition - the teacher is extremely hard to please and is very subjective when it comes to annotating pieces of literature and our essay requirements. It is very difficult to make an A. 9 out of 10
Current Grade: 88

AP Biology - this class has a lot of complicated information to learn, but it doesn’t require too much higher level thinking so as long as you pay attention in class. 5 out of 10
Current Grade: 95

At my school, AP is harder than honors classes, but no where near as hard as any IB class. All 4 AP classes I took before starting IB were incredibly easy (easier than some of my honors classes actually). I took AP Human, AP World, AP Euro, and AP Lang and got As in all of them and two 4s and two 5s on the tests. I really don’t believe for an instant that they are “college level” classes, now IB on the other hand…

A 3.something AP test average is high? I go to a large public school and our Calc BC AP average is a low 4.8. I don’t believe any AP class at any school are THAT difficult (unless you all go to phillips exeter or something), and if you are willing to put in the required effort these classes that are supposed to mirror intro-level college courses should be manageable

At my school the ap physics class is easier than the honors class you take before hand. The class average was a 4.9 last year out of a class of about 30.

Ap ush is very time consuming but if you put a lot of effort in you can easily pull off an A. We outline over a 1000 pages of history and wrote approximately 30 FRQs and 30 DBQs for practice. He also never gave anyone a 7 or 8. I got an A and 5.

My ap euro class was a joke because like 200 kids take it. I enjoyed it though and got a 5. We did almost no work in that class.

My Ap Spanish language class was hell. It was a nightmare. I got a B+ and a 4.

My BC calculus class is supposedly hard and out of 70 kids who take it the average is a 4.7.

My ap Spanish lit class is easy. Average last year was above a 4.

My ap stat class is easy and the average was a 4.

My ap English lit class is hard and the average was a 4.3.

APUSH tests are okay and same with the other assignments; surprisingly it’s the quizzes that are killer! They are so freaking specific that I feel like studying won’t even help!

Out of my eight AP classes, only gov and stat are hard. Stat is really only hard because our teacher has only been there 5 days out of four weeks :/.

All of the AP classes I’ve taken are far harder than the test (this isn’t to say that they were really hard classes, though, since I found most of the classes pretty easy). That’s why, counting only people that actually took the class, the English Language average is a 4.81, US History average is a 4.83, Environmental Science a 4.84, Psychology is a 4.85, Calculus BC is a 4.95, and Calculus AB is a 4.97. (Most other tests are lower, but in the 4-4.5 range, very few are under 4.) If the kids cannot do the material in the class, they usually drop it in the first semester (or sometimes, the second) rather than risk a D or F. The reason the US History is so high (it’s not usually considered an easy test or one that has a very high percentage of 5’s like Calculus BC) is that that particular class is quite hard, hard even for an AP class; Calculus AB is also often said to be nearly as hard as BC in our school (after all, there aren’t many chapters different).

Of course, many kids self-study (from honors level, regular level, or without taking any kind of class in the subject, or kids who dropped early on) so our school averages aren’t that high because they can often get 3’s or worse. However, some kids do successfully self study and get 5’s, like myself.

I’m confused, why is the supposedly higher level class easier?

Ap euro was hard for some people, but they had very little experience writing good essays, and very little motivation to take notes. Personally, I didn’t think it was too bad. I really enjoyed it.
Ap psych was a huge joke at my school. Its considered the" beginners" ap class at my school. I thought it was the easiest thing ever. I was bored out of my mind, but it was an easy A/5. Basically everyone passes.
Ap gov, hard to say since our teacher was awful and no one learned anything. Tons of people failed from my school, but that’s not surprising considering our teacher didn’t really cover anything.
Ap music theory was crazy difficult. Our teacher over-prepared us for some things and way under-prepared us for others. I almost cried after the test. Hardest one I’ve taken by far. Also the best, I learned so much.
Ap english lit, some people are struggling, im finding it very boring (again, not a great teacher). If you have good reading standard test scores, it’ll probably be fairly easy.
Ap stats is really confusing, but my teacher has no idea what she’s talking about. Hard to learn from someone who doesn’t know the material.
