<p>That doesn’t say much - it just says that the average person who takes AP ES is not as studious as the average person who takes, say, AP Physics C. </p>
<p>The consensus, though, is that the AP exam is a joke (each to his or her own opinion, of course, but this is what I generally hear). I know someone who walked in with no preparation and got a 4 on the exam with common sense. Another person started studying a week before the test and got a 5. Granted, they were exceptional students, but I don’t think there are many people who would say AP ES is as difficult as some of the other APs.</p>
<p>There’s even a thread in the AP test preparation section that tells you how to self-study Environmental Science a few days before the AP exam ;)</p>
