How hard is it to get a 3.7GPA in freshmen

Still waiting for news.
I want to get into Ross and I applied for prefered admission. But if I only got accepted by LSA and have to apply during freshmen year, I wanna know the odds. I found on the umich website that less than half of the freshmen who applied for Ross got accepted in the end, and the average gpa was 3.7. I know essays are also important, but how hard is it really to get a 3.7gpa during freshmen year, assuming I don't overload myself? What is the average gpa for all the LSA freshmen? Anyone who cares to share their experience and information is greatly appreciated!

outside of hard sciences and math, it is a piece of cake. Average gpa is 3.2-3.3 and there are a lot of not-so-bright people in LSA, especially outside of math/chemistry/biology/physics. Of the non math/hard science LSA classes that I have taken, I have always felt that the professors make the classes so easy it’s almost as if they are trying to give you a good grade. Maybe it’s just the contrast between grading policy of LSA and engineering but that’s my feeling.

That said, if you screw around you’ll fall behind easily. Whatever classes you take, even if they’re easy, keep up with your work and study more than you think you need to.
