just wanted to know, I have a 4.0 at Rutgers and a 1540 on teh SATs

haha I applied too. I assume its quite hard. You have a slightly better GPA than mine, which could work in your favor. :)

not everyone admitted to the program had amazing academic achievements. ppl find ways to bs it and you had to have overcome something.

Its fairly difficult- probably moreso that Summer Analysts for juniors, as they only take about 30 people each year.

Usually, these applicants have something amazing about them (i.e. cured cancer, son of a JPM Head MD, etc.). Academic credentials, whilst important, do not matter to the extent that a "hook" may, in this case.

It is extremely hard.

They take about 20 people; around 5 are freshmen. It is geared toward URMs.

It isn't geared towards URMs.

edit: unless you guys aren't talking about the smart start scholarship?

"The JPMorgan Investment Bank Honors Program is a ten-week summer internship opportunity in New York designed for exceptional students of diverse backgrounds (including but not limited to students of color, female students and students with disabilities) who are currently in their freshman or sophomore year of college."

...so yes, it is geared toward URMs.

i was referring to something else

I'm hispanic, but international. Would that still sort of make me a URM in this case? I remember that in college admissions I was simply international. But how about for this program?

my chances seem dead now. cut off GPA is 3.5. My 1st semester GPA was 3.52. Too close to the cutoff :(.

megaman, you're at Penn, there are only 14 interview spots. So keeping in mind that they only take about 25% freshmen, they'll have maybe 3-4 spots for freshmen. So, it will be pretty competitive, and the slight advantage you may get from being URM will be pretty small b/c they are only accepting so few interviews.

An advantage is that not too many Wharton freshmen have looked at Pennlinks or are considering the Honors program internship (besides me, but like I said, I'm probably ruled out).

What should a competitive GPA be? My 1st semester came out to be 3.78, but I don't really have anyone else to compare it with and know where I stand. Anyways, I don't plan on applying as a rising sophmore. I was thinking about taking these vacations off, just chill, and then apply as a rising junior.

All I've heard is that anything above 3.7 is good.
...but again, I don't know a whole lot so don't rely on my info.

I would think you have a higher chance this year than next because next year, a lot of sophomores will be competing against you at Penn for the interview spots.

what happened after you guys applied? has anyone been contacted for an interview? Do you guys have any experience?

I just heard back from them. got rejected.

I'll let you know on January 23, that's when our signups start for interviews.

Mighty nick- what were your stats? did they interview you at all? Did they call you or just email you with the rejection? Thanks..

they just emailed me with a rejection. I have a 3.8GPA (majoring in Econ at UMich).

damn....that's a freaking high GPA at an awesome school....I'm starting to lose hope

Yeah, but you go to UPenn, which is a better school than UMich.
